How to invite, offer and erect Buddha statues?

In fact, for ordinary people, it is also very effective to recite the names of Buddha and Bodhisattva in their hearts, such as "there is no Amitabha in the south" and "there is no Guanyin Bodhisattva in the south". Everything depends on sincerity, and it is more important to recite Buddha when offering Buddha.

The following is excerpted from Sina blog "Lake Pavilion Watching Snow".

Buddhism believes that worshipping Buddha will produce and accumulate many merits. Observing the solemnity of the Buddha and the mystery of Buddhist teachings in front of the Buddha statue, thus entering the realm of Zen thinking, can be conducive to religious practice.

When you want to invite a Buddha and Bodhisattva to worship, you will definitely have questions in your heart: Who should you invite? What kind, please? Do you need someone to calculate? I'm here to tell you that there is no Buddha in Shifang III! Buddhists and Bodhisattvas are saints who have obtained the three benefits and three bodhis of Antidoro. As long as you sincerely worship any Buddha and Bodhisattva statue, you will get three treasures of compassion and boundless merits, thus eliminating past karma and bringing peace and auspiciousness. You can't believe that the "big immortals" will figure out what bodhisattvas and buddhas you want to invite, and then give you a bright lamp and charge you a fee. That is extremely inferior to the law! Guangcheng would like to remind everyone not to do meaningless and wasteful things.

When you sincerely worship the Buddha statue, you can naturally go to the French logistics office or buddhist supplies store to choose a Buddha and Bodhisattva statue you like and come back to worship it, regardless of its size, material, shape, standing image, sitting image and lying image. As long as you like it, it means that you have a great fate with them. Please go back and worship, and you will be blessed!

Remember, Buddhism does not advocate external activities such as divination, fortune telling and seeing things. Anyone who really wants to learn Buddhism has his own dragon protector. There is no need to ask God for advice, because it is useless. According to Buddhists, there is no difference between lucky and unlucky, whether it is a blessing or a curse, it is the result of doing good deeds and accumulating virtue, and it is not something that a "big fairy" or a "witch girl" can get rid of. Only by sincerely learning and respecting Buddhism can we understand what to do and what not to do, improve our own quality and self-cultivation, reduce the generation of evil thoughts and karma, and have happiness in the future.

How should the statues of buddhas and bodhisattvas be enshrined? Buddhism has no strict requirements on how to worship statues of buddhas and bodhisattvas, as long as you are "clean, quiet and respectful". As for the orientation of worship, it can be worshipped according to the convenience of the home environment. There is no record of sitting east facing west and south facing north in the Buddhist classics, because there are Buddhas in ten directions and three generations, and the orientation is not important. Of course, the place of worship must be spacious and clean, and the living room and study can be used. Don't put Buddha statues in dirty places such as kitchens and bathrooms. If your family environment is limited. You can also worship Buddha statues in the bedroom, but you must keep them clean and cover them with cloth when you sleep. Try not to kill, eat meat or drink in front of the Buddha statue. Of course, if you can always observe the five commandments (no killing, no stealing, no prostitution, no lying, no drinking), then you will be far away from all bad luck and have endless blessings!

To tell the truth, all people who study Buddhism should be well-founded and well-connected. Today's bodhisattva will be able to prove Buddha's fruit early in the future. Since we are the Buddha of the future, we believe in ourselves and treat ourselves well. All achievements (benefits) belong to us. It is cost-effective to pay more attention to repentance and Buddha. The Sakyamuni Sutra of the Tibetan Bodhisattva says, "Give up one thing and get everything". Why not? Here, I am willing to accept all good knowledge, know how to care for my thoughts, practice both wealth and wisdom, and have boundless merits!

The significance of offering Buddha

First, always remind yourself that respect is very important! Respect is the expression of human nature. You often read "all aspects" in reading books. Buddha and Bodhisattva are sincere and respectful to people and things! Are we sincere and respectful to people and things?

Second, it is to repay kindness. Buddha is our first teacher, and we can get the extraordinary benefits of Buddhism today. Don't forget the fundamental teacher. So we worship Buddha, not as a god, but as a teacher. As soon as I see the Buddha statue, I want to realize that I want to learn Buddha!

How to offer Buddha?

First: put it in a high and clean place, not in the bedroom aisle, kitchen balcony and other disrespectful places. There is a respect, a harvest, great respect and great harvest.

Second: light one or three incense sticks. Please try to make it smell better. The quality is good, and the taste is good for health and air. Please invite sandalwood and others.

Third: a glass of water. You can use a cup with a lid, which is clean to prevent insects from flying in. Go to the Buddha shop and look for it. )

You can drink water the next day. (Don't drink directly with your mouth close to the utensils, you need to pour water into your own cup)

Fourth: You can offer fragrant flowers to fruits (fruits and dried fruits), but never to wine and meat.

Fifth: If the conditions do not allow, it must be placed in the bedroom, please cover it with yellow or red mesh cloth.

Sixth: clean water and clean cloth must be used when cleaning.

How to set up a Buddhist altar at home?

This is a question that people often ask. In other words, do you need to set up a Buddhist temple to study Buddhism at home? If yes, how to set it up?

It depends on everyone's situation. If the residence is very small, or if you live in a public dormitory, it is definitely inconvenient to share one room and one house with your colleagues and classmates. Then, only when you recite the scriptures regularly in class, you can temporarily show the Buddhist scriptures as Buddha statues and put them in a considerable position. There is no need to set incense burners and candlesticks, and there is no need to provide water, flowers and incense. Just ask questions and worship before and after class to show piety and respect. If both roommates and roommates believe in Buddhism, of course, you can set up a Buddhist altar or a Buddhist temple with the same name. If you only teach yourself Buddhism, you should not provoke public outrage by forcibly setting up Buddhist altar because of your special performance.

If only one person in the whole family studies Buddhism, they should also live in public dormitories, otherwise it will cause family quarrels. Don't make your family feel disgusted and resentful about Buddhism because of learning Buddhism. If the whole family believes in Buddhism, learns Buddhism, or you are a parent, or a couple are classmates, and there is still a room or room at home, it is best to set up a Buddhist altar or hall.

If you set up a Buddhist altar, you should choose a suitable position in the living room, that is, the direction in which the owner sits. Don't face the window behind the Buddha statue, but face the doors and windows so that people can see it at a glance when they enter the door. The Buddhist altar is the center of the family and should have the function of stability and security. As for the location determined by geographers, it can be used as a reference, but there is no need to stick to superstition. As long as you don't point the Buddha at the toilet, the stove or directly at your bed. When setting up a Buddhist temple, you should choose a quiet room, not a place where children, cats and dogs play; Nor is it a place for people to gather, laugh and have a feast. It is only used for chanting and meditation, and it is not used for other purposes. Gods such as Gong, Mazu, land, ancestors, and the main cards of gods, which were originally provided at home, should not be abolished immediately because they believed in Buddhism and learned from Buddhism, but should be gradually carried out. First, put the icons of Buddha and Bodhisattva in the right place and the ancestral cards of other gods on both sides, so there is no need to put incense tables and candlesticks. Because all good gods and ancestors will protect and be close to the Three Treasures, they can also become disciples of the Three Treasures after offering sacrifices to Buddha and Bodhisattva icons and gain the benefits of Buddhism. The next time you move the Buddhist altar and the Buddhist temple, you can keep the original statues as antiques.

As for the ancestral cards, they can be moved to the ancestral hall of the temple and do not need to be enshrined at home. If you still want to worship, you can put it under the Buddha statue or move it to another place and worship it alone in an ancestral altar smaller than the Buddha altar. For example, if the temple is big, there will be another hall for the dead, specially for the dead card; If the temple is small, longevity cards and past life cards will be provided on both sides of the main hall Buddha altar. This can not only show filial piety to ancestors, but also show lofty belief in buddhas and bodhisattvas, which is different from filial piety.

Families don't need too much, too complicated and too messy to worship Buddha and Bodhisattva icons. Yes-Buddha represents ten thousand buddhas and bodhisattvas represent all buddhas and bodhisattvas. Most families worship Guanyin Bodhisattva, Sakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha and Pharmacist Buddha. You can choose one of them. If there are already icons of Buddha and Bodhisattva, put the Buddha in the middle or above the back, and the Bodhisattva on both sides or below the front. We must make the Buddha stand out to show its dignity. The size of the icon should be commensurate with the spatial position of the Buddhist altar and the Buddhist temple, neither too big nor too small. If the icon is small and made of seven treasures, you can carve multiple niches to set off the greatness of the Buddha statue.

After purchasing the Buddha and Bodhisattva icons, most people advocate holding the opening ceremony. From the Buddhist point of view, the opening ceremony is not necessarily necessary. Because the Buddha-Bodhisattva statue is only a tool for practice, the feelings of Buddha and Bodhisattva have always been there, and the icon is the object of worship. Without idols, there is no object to worship, support and respect. After this kind of practice, you can get the benefits of practice and get the induction of Buddha and Bodhisattva, but the most important thing is the feeling of self-confidence, piety and respect, not the icon itself. Therefore, it doesn't matter whether the icon is open or not. Note: The unopened Buddha statue is at risk of being stationed by ghosts. It is best to ask a virtuous guru to hide and open it. )

When Buddha Sakyamuni was alive, disciples of the world missed him for three months and made statues for him. There is no record of opening a light. In later generations, scriptures, images, objects, towers and temples represented the life and changes of the Buddha. However, the grand ceremony can make more people respect each other, so there are various sacrificial ceremonies gradually, and the opening of the light is one of them.

So far, all temples will gather believers to hold the opening ceremony if they newly carve Buddha statues. This is like the opening ceremony of the school, the opening of the company number and the ribbon-cutting ceremony when the building is completed. It is necessary to announce it carefully to the public, so the ceremony is held.

As for individuals, there is no need to tell the public when offering Buddha and Bodhisattva icons at home, so there is no need to hold a ceremony to open the light. As long as they put the icons for worship with piety and reverence, and then offer them with incense, flowers, fruits and other offerings day after day to keep them fresh, neat and clean, they can show the sacred atmosphere where the icons are located, thus arousing the moral heart of practitioners.

In order to keep the indoor air fresh, the incense should be fine. It is advisable to burn incense once in the family Buddhist temple. Don't light a lot of incense sticks, so as not to cause indoor air turbidity. Natural sandalwood and agarwood are the best fragrance types, and it is not suitable to use chemical spices or animal spices to prepare thread or stick incense. In the Buddhist temples of modern families, electric lights can replace candles, and sacrificial tables, incense burners and candlesticks should be cleaned frequently and new offerings should be provided. At the very least, there should be no dust or withered and rotten flowers and fruits. It is best to have regular morning and evening classes every day, at least burn incense and provide water in the morning and evening. Before going out and after arriving home, you should also worship the Buddha to show your gratitude, respect and concern.
