History of Fengjiang Town, Jiexi County, Guangdong Province

Fengjiang Town was originally named Fengjiang District, and 195 1 year was demarcated by Feng 'an District, later called the sixth district.

1957 was renamed as Fengjiang Township, 1958 was merged into Mianhu Commune, and 19 1 was demolished from Mianhu Commune. 1983 is also called Fengjiang District, and 1988 is also called Fengjiang Town.

Fengjiang Town is located in the southeast of Jiexi County, 40 kilometers away from the county seat, facing Rongjiang River in the east, facing Mianhu Town across the river, connecting Jinhe River in the west, Tatou in the north and Puning Meitang in the south, with an area of 33.675 square kilometers. The town is dominated by plains, with only 787. 1 mu of low mountains in Yangxi Village and Chixin Village.

Cultivated land is 2579 1 mu, and dry land 1.668 mu.

With a total population of 72,436, the town has jurisdiction over 15 villagers' committees (Dongguang, Dongfeng, Dongxin, Yang Nan, Yangxi, Fengxi, Fengnan, Fengbei, Chixin, Hongxi, Honghu, Huazhai, Hongjiang, Hong Xin and Goose Hammer) and a neighborhood committee (Qiaotou neighborhood committee), with a total of 85 villagers' groups.

Fengjiang Town has convenient transportation, abundant energy, convenient communication, complete infrastructure and criss-crossing transportation networks extending in all directions.

Hemian Highway runs through the territory, from Mianhu to Jieyang and Shantou in the east, and from Jinhe to Hepo County in the west; Tafeng Highway goes north to Tatou, Jingxi Garden and Wujingfu; Shen Feng Highway goes to Shenkeng and Puningli Lake in the west.

Rural roads such as Dongfeng-Dongxin, Dutang-Jiaozhou Mountain, Hongjiang-Honghu and Hong Xin-Emei, which are built according to high standards, have three main roads connecting villages in the town. The completion of Fengmian Bridge and transit highway will further improve the traffic conditions in Fengjiang New District and accelerate the pace of development.

Fengjiang Telecom Sub-bureau and Post Sub-bureau provide convenient and fast telecom services for people. At present, there are 5,253 telephone users in the town.

The 35,000-volt substation provides a strong guarantee for the life and production of the whole town.

Fengjiang Town is one of the main grain-producing towns in Jiexi County, with cultivated land area of 2579 1 mu and dry land 1.668 mu.

Crops are mainly planted with rice, sugar cane, wheat, peanuts, sugar cane, wax gourd, mustard and so on.

In 2000, the rice planting area was 33,700 mu, and the total output reached 1.46 million tons.

Focus on the development of "suburban" agriculture with vegetable production as the mainstay, and realize contiguous planting and large-scale production. There are 28 growers with a business area of more than 20 mu.

This year, the town planted nearly 4000 mu of vegetables, with a total output of 20 million tons.

The planting area of fruit trees is more than 3,500 mu, and the main types are litchi, longan, olive, raw orange, peach, plum, banana, Thai pomegranate and cantaloupe. Recently, new varieties of sweet corn and American aloe have been introduced and are being gradually popularized.

Breeding varieties include: pigs, sheep, freshwater fish, cows, cows, chickens, ducks, geese, mainly freshwater fish farming. The existing freshwater fish culture area is 4476.0 mu, with an annual output of 759 tons.

The agricultural production base is in regional layout, and Yangdong mainly produces vegetables (Dongguang, Dongxin and Dongfeng); Planting fruits and out-of-season vegetables (mustard) in Yangxi village; Hongjiang grain high-yield areas (Hongjiang, Hong Xin, Goose Mouth); Freshwater culture of red heart (red heart, Honghu Lake).

Fengjiang Town is surrounded by water on three sides, Beishan Reservoir in Beijiang River and Hengjiang Reservoir in Nanjiang River, and the north and south rivers meet outside Echui Village in a "V" shape.

In 2000, the total output value was 363.24 million yuan, including 357.79 million yuan from individual and private enterprises. The distribution of industrial production in the town is as follows: There are more than 200 candied fruit processing enterprises in Yangdong, with an annual processing capacity of 8,000 tons and an output value of 6,543.8+billion yuan. Hu Feng is made of plastic and blown bottles, Hongjiang is made of wires, plastic and hardware, and Huazhai Village is baked with pickled plums.

In 2000, the total industrial output value of the town accounted for 82.5% of the total industrial and agricultural output value, and the industrial economy has become the main pillar of the town's economy. Through continuous development and growth, we are gradually moving from a large agricultural town to an industrial town.
