What is root and what is stem?

What is thorough drying?

If the heavenly stems hidden in the eight-character earthly branches appear in the eight-character heavenly stems, then the heavenly stems appear completely.

Because there are dry nails, dry nails, and dry nails, then this eight-character heavenly stem is a thorough heavenly stem. For another example, the word B appears in the eight-character heavenly stem, and the word Mao appears in the eight-character earthly branch. Because the word Mao hides the dry B, in this case, B's heavenly dryness is also completely dry.

What is the same root?

Tonggen, like the head stem, is called Tonggen when a word in the heavenly stem appears in the eight-character earthly branch. Tonggen can be understood as strengthening the power of the five elements, and the power of Tongben Qigen is the greatest.

Because the qi in the earth branch is A, this is called "this qi leads to the root". For another example, there are nails in the sky and nails in the ground. If in the eight characters, the sky is dry and things are dry, and there is neither a nail nor a sea in the ground branch, then it can be understood as "nailing wood is empty and rootless."
