What's the date of Fairy Festival?
the Spring Festival; Chinese New Year
According to legend, the Nu people lived once in the past three years, but later, due to the influence of other ethnic groups, it was changed to once a year. Time is divided into New Year's Day and before and after the Spring Festival. Years ago, we should be ready to burn wood, kill pigs, soju, poop and clean up. On the first night of the New Year in China, the elderly should be invited to dinner. In the early morning of the first day of the new year, drink ancestral water and let the dog eat the first bowl of rice. There is no visit from grade one to grade three. During the Spring Festival, old people drink and sing by the fireplace, while young people shoot crossbows, wrestle, swing, play the piano and dance.
A festival for sacrificing mountains and forests
Sacrificing mountain forests is generally held on the fourth and fifth day of the first month. This activity is limited to men, and all the victims are black sheep. In addition, the gentle new house is also very distinctive. When there are no doors and windows on the wall of the wooden house, the owner wants to kill a chicken, ask the wizard to sacrifice to the new house, and then cut a hole in the wall of the wooden house with an axe and install it on the door. On the same day, the villagers took the initiative to congratulate with chicken, wine and meat, drinking, singing and dancing all night.
On the 29th of the twelfth lunar month, the Nu people in Bijiang offered sacrifices to the Valley God, and on the 30th they offered sacrifices to the Rain God.
Fairy festival
Every year from March 15 to 17 of the lunar calendar, when azaleas are in full bloom, Nu people will celebrate the festival for the "fairy". This festival, also known as the "Flower Festival", is a traditional folk festival in the Nu nationality area around Yunnan Gongshan.
According to legend, a long time ago, the slave cottage was dripping like oil, the countryside was deserted, and the people's lives were miserable. At that time, A Rong, a beautiful, intelligent and powerful Nu girl, split the cliff with her arms and dug a cave, which attracted clear spring water for the Nu people and watered the thirsty land. Since then, the barren mountain has become an oasis. The Nu people call Arong a "fairy", and the Flower Festival is a folk activity held in memory of her.
Every year on the 15th day of the third lunar month, Nu people will choose one or three limestone stalactite caves as fairy caves, and every family will go there to offer sacrifices. Those who go to sacrifice tie bunches of azaleas and bring sacrificial vessels and wine vessels; Every household also uses three to five bags of corn to stand at the mouth of the cave, heaps all kinds of washed grains into round piles, places sacrifices, lights pine smoke, Taoist priests recite greetings, drum and chant Buddhist scriptures, and everyone kowtows and pays tribute. In front of the stage and on both sides of the stage, there are lamas dressed in dark red robes and chanting with instruments, as well as trumpeters who manipulate suona and hang drums. There are pine branches, flowers, corn and colorful flags on the incense burner in the square on the left of Lama. That pine branch symbolizes good luck and longevity; Flowers are dedicated to the "fairy"; Corn is a bumper harvest, more than a year.
In the melodious suona sound, gongs and drums were loud, and the sacrificial activities reached a climax. Then, the crowd began to move to the "fairy cave". Girls dressed in costumes, holding flowers, offering sacrifices, came to the "fairy cave" to get the "milk" of the "fairy" and prayed for the blessing of the fairy. According to folklore, the water dripping from the stone is the milk of the fairy Arong.
After returning home, families held banquets, drank, danced and entertained. Young people dressed up and went to a wide field to compete and shoot arrows. In the evening, young men and women will sing and dance around the bonfire all night.
Now that the festival of immortals has passed, it has been given new content. The government also allocated special funds to help and organize Nu people to have a happy festival. At the same time, we will hold material exchange meetings, organize film evenings and cultural performances, and carry out sports activities such as boating and archery competitions. Cadres and the masses of other nationalities also participated enthusiastically and congratulated them in succession. In this way, today's "Fairy Festival" of Nu people has become a grand gathering of national unity, friendship, mutual exchange and learning.
