Is there really such a person as "living Buddha helping the public" in history?

When it comes to Jigong, everyone will invariably think of the TV series Jigong starring Benchang You in the 1980s. His image of fighting injustice, helping the poor, getting rid of violence, promoting good and punishing evil has left a unique and beautiful impression in people's hearts. Especially the theme song "Where is injustice, where can I be? Overnight resounded through the north and south of the river and the streets. So is there such a person as Jigong in history?

According to relevant information, there was indeed a monk named Daoji in the Song Dynasty in history, according to the following five points:

First, according to "Wulin Fanshi" included in Sikuquanshu during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, Song Daoji, son of Li in Taizhou, was a scholar at the age of 18. Because he lived in seclusion, he lived in a blind church and earned a degree during this period, so he was a Saman. (China Buddhist Temple Records edited by Du Fu, Volume VIII, Wulin Brahma Records, Volume IX. Taiwan Province Wen Ming Bookstore 1980 Edition)

Secondly, Jingci Temple's record, also known as "Ji Yin, Tiantai Li Maochun's son", was born when the mother king dreamed of swallowing Japan, and Lingyin Blind Hall was far from being born at the age of eighteen. ("Jingci Temple Zhi" Volume III)

Thirdly, there is a similar record in Lingyin Temple Records: Ji Dian Zen Master, whose name is Ji, is a son of Taizhou Li. When he first joined the blind church, he knew extraordinary things, but he drank and ate meat and was crazy. (Record of Lingyin Temple, Volume III)

Fourthly, the local chronicles of Tiantai Mountain also said: Ji Dian Zen Master, Tiantai Man, Father Li Mao Chun. ..... Mother Wang dreamed that she swallowed Teacher Riguang and died at Lingyin Temple at the age of 18. (Tiantai Mountain Local Records, Volume 5)

Fifth, according to the Song Dynasty's Collection of Buddhist Monks in Northern Qing Dynasty, Li Wen and his distant grandson, who lived in Lingyin Temple, were crazy, sparse, modest and clean. ..... Gu Sou, called the lake hidden, called barbary, and everyone called it that. In the second year of Jiading (1209), he died in Kyocera on May 14th.

Based on the above five evidences, it is enough to show that there are indeed people who help others in history.

According to the Inscription Collection of Fiona Fang Zuo Li, a Zen Master in Northern Qing Dynasty, Ji Gong was born in the 18th year of Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 148) and died in Jiading for two years (A.D. 1209). He was born in Yongning Village, Tiantai Mountain, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province. His great-great grandfather Li Zunxu is our military envoy in Song Taizong. The Li family has believed in Buddhism for generations. His father Li Maochun and his mother Wang live in Yongning village outside the north gate of Tiantai. Li Maochun is nearly forty years old and has no children. He finally got this son through devout worship of Buddha. After Jigong was born, the abbot of Xiaoguo Temple decided his fate by his common name, and since then, he has forged an indissoluble bond with Buddhism.

Although he is the great-grandson of Wei Wenli in Linhai, he didn't get the bad habit of dude. When I was a teenager, I studied in Ruixia Cave in Chicheng Mountain in the north of the village, influenced by Buddhism and Taoism. After his parents died, he first went to Xiaoguo Temple to learn from Fakong. At that time, it was named Daoji under the door of Hui Yuan, the monk's blind hall, who was the abbot of the National Assembly Temple. After that, he visited the Daoqing Temple and Kannonji Daojing, and finally went to Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou.

In his life's behavior, he was regarded as grotesque. As a matter of fact, Jigong is a famous monk with a frank and upright personality. His master is a famous Hui Yuan Zen master in the Blind Temple. Jigong's Buddhist attainments are quite high, but his life behavior is really different from that of ordinary monks. Jigong lived a happy and elegant life, and liked to travel everywhere, covering Zhejiang, Anhui, Sichuan and other places. He is often disheveled and restless, purchasing medical stones for people, treating diseases and practicing medicine, solving problems, often effectively and widely helping people's sufferings. Therefore, its virtue is widely praised by people.
