Some love belongs to "defiled" love, some love belongs to "pure" love, some love is "possessed" love, and some love is "dedicated" love. What is "love"? On the bad side, love, like a rope, will bind us and make our body and mind not free; Love is like a chain, which will bind us and make us restless for a moment; Love is sometimes like a blind person, trapped in the dark and not knowing it; Love is like syrup on a knife. In order to taste that little sweetness, you may be in danger of losing your tongue. Love is more like a sea of suffering. "thousands of feet waves in love, waves in the sea of suffering" can make us capsize in the sea of suffering.
On the positive side, love is sacrifice and dedication; Love is encouragement and sympathy. For the public, they always want to be loved and like to get other people's feelings. 1. The love of ordinary people in the world
The so-called ordinary people's love is often narrow and limited, and ordinary people's love is possessive and phase. Ordinary people's love sometimes leads to many problems. To sum up the reasons, there are probably the following points:
(A) the object of love is wrong
It is human nature to see the person you like, but when the object of admiration is inappropriate, it will not only increase happiness, but also increase trouble. For example, the other party has become a husband and wife, and the famous flowers are taken, and they are still struggling to pursue them, which can only cause tragedy. Besides, feelings are two-sided, and you can't force them just because you are interested. The degree of affection should also be shallow, shallow and deep. If you drown too much, it will inevitably lead to bottomless results.
(B) the concept of love is wrong
Some people think that wealth can buy others' love, while others think that they can't communicate because of the mismatch between status and portal. These are all wrong ideas. Parents' wrong doting has actually hurt their children's life; The love encouraged by parents can give children great strength and let them make correct life choices. Why are her parents sad and happy, crying and laughing? After the crystal tears, what kind of feelings is that? In today's Buddhist world, there are many college students who are willing to become monks, and it is not uncommon for young intellectuals to join Buddhism. But more than 20 years ago, when the Buddhist atmosphere in Taiwan Province Province was relatively closed, it was really difficult for an educated young man to devote himself to Buddhism. Her parents have feelings for him, hoping that their children will always enjoy it on their knees, but more affectionate. Parents, between smiles and tears, have profound meanings.
In fact, Buddhism does not oppose the just love between men and women, nor does it oppose the love between husband and wife. However, some young men and women in society are in love now, and they have become casual love-from precious love between men and women to disorderly love that causes trouble. This phenomenon is very bad.
Some people say that love is a comedy in France, a tragedy in Britain and an opera in Italy. If it is in America, love now has become a farce. And if love is in China, I look at it from the side as a farce.

Once the relationship breaks down and we leave each other amicably, how can we have the heart to vilify, hurt or even destroy this person we once loved so much? Why bother?
Some people say that young people talk about love, and love is just talk; Middle-aged people talk about love, love is in the body and in the hand; When the elderly talk about love, love is in their hearts and unforgettable.
Therefore, the experience of love is becoming more and more mature with age. Sages on earth, do you have feelings? Is there love? Is their love the same as that of ordinary people on earth? Let me give you some examples to tell you about the love of sages in the world.
(1) forget yourself for your country.
Dayu was a saint in ancient China. At that time, people in the world were suffering from floods. He was ordered to control water and relieve the suffering of the whole world. 13 years, he supervised outside, passed by his door three times, and did not visit relatives. That's because he always thought that ordinary people lived in dire straits and forgot their own affairs. This spirit of selflessness for the country and the people has left a model for our future generations.
During the Warring States Period, Qu Yuan was an important official around Chu Huaiwang. Because Chu Huaiwang listened to the villain's words to sow discord, he gradually alienated Qu Yuan and even went into exile. However, Qu Yuan still loves his country and sincerely hopes that the motherland can embark on the road of prosperity. So although he didn't believe in the king, he didn't change his loyalty to the country and the people, and even died in the Miluo River. From his many touching patriotic remarks, we can feel Qu Yuan's unpalatable patriotic feelings. He would rather die for his country than live for himself. (3) Dedication to the law
In Buddhism, Tang Sanzang Xuanzang is known as "Confucius of Buddhism". In order to study Buddhism in India, he had to cross 800 miles of desert. On the way, Ma Tuo's water suddenly fell out and was lost. In the desert, if there is no water, it will be a dead end. But he endured all kinds of hunger and thirst and made a firm oath: "I would rather die in the West than live in the East", which is also valuable love.
Let's look at the kimono worn by the Japanese, which is very similar to the clothing in China; The architectural style of the house is similar to that of China House; Even the tableware for eating is China's. Japanese culture can be said to be a branch of China culture. Who spread China culture and planted China culture in Japan? That's Jian Zhen, the master of the Tang Dynasty. When he vowed to promote Buddhism in Japan, he made seven efforts before and after, which took 12 years.

After many hardships, I finally arrived in Japan for the seventh time. At that time, he was over 60 years old and blind. However, he still did not change his original intention and said such touching words: "Why do you cherish your life for big things?"
In order to accomplish the great cause of promoting Buddhism and benefiting all beings, he spared his life. Like this kind of realistic enthusiasm and sadness, it is also sublimated from love to carry forward Buddhism.
(4) filial piety.
In Buddhism, Mu Lianzun, the eldest son of the dutiful son, risked his life and tried his best to save his mother who was suffering in hell. Therefore, the Buddha revealed the method of saving the family with the Koran, which not only saved his own biological parents, but also saved all parents. This filial piety is a great transformation of love.
Daoji Zen master in the Northern Qi Dynasty, with ten thousand volumes of scriptures in one hand and an elderly and blind mother in the other, preached Buddhism everywhere. When someone wanted to help him take care of his old mother, he politely refused to say, "My mother gave birth to me, not your mother. I should take care of her life. "
Chen Zunsu of the Tang Dynasty, with lofty spirit, was willing to transport the Zen master after learning from the golden cypress, was filial, and knitted his own boots to support his mother, so everyone respectfully called him Chen Pu Xie.
There are many touching filial piety in Buddhism, and this kind of filial piety is the most authentic and beautiful feeling of human beings and a high-level expression of love.
(5) Love your disciples as yourself.

The venerable Milarepa visited teachers everywhere to seek enlightenment, and finally found a guru Marba with profound knowledge as a preacher. The guru asked him, "You worship me as a teacher, and I ask you, what do you have to support me?"
The venerable Milarepa bowed devoutly: "I dedicate my body, mouth and mind to you as my support."
When the guru agreed, he was accepted as an apprentice. One day, the guru said to him, "You are in good health. I want you to build a stone house for me to collect scriptures. After that, I will preach Buddhism to you! " "
Milarepa was very happy after hearing this, and immediately asked the guru to build drawings for him. The guru said, "I want to build a round house on the steep mountain top in the east to eliminate your karma."
Milarepa built houses day after day. Halfway through, the guru came, stacked the half-moon coat layer by layer and put it on the ground. He said, "This place is not good. Please take stones and materials down the mountain and build a house for me on the western hill, just like this! "
Milarepa was in pain, and she had to build back-to-back houses again. Halfway through the building, the guru came again and said, "This house doesn't look right. Please tear it down, move the wood and stones down the mountain, and build me a triangular house that truly represents the yogi! "
Milarepa had to obey the teacher's instructions and work tirelessly again, free from the scorching sun and wind and rain. After finishing a third of the work, the master came again and asked, "Who asked you to do this house?" Milarepa was anxious and immediately replied, "Master, you ordered this yourself!" "
The guru scratched his head and said, "Oh? Why don't I remember? Isn't it intentional to hurt me to build a triangle house in such a place with bad feng shui, like the altar market where criminal law is implemented? Tear it down and go to Beishan to build me a nine-story square house with a warehouse on it, a total of ten floors. When the house is built, I will pass it on to you! "
In a word, Milarepa's hard work was all in vain.
In this way, cover and tear down, tear down and cover, how many years have passed in picking bricks and soil, so tired that my body is rotten. Other disciples couldn't bear to see it, so they came to help him move bricks and pick bricks. When the master saw it, he was still furious: "I told you to build the house, but I didn't ask anyone to help build it." Why are you so lazy and ask others to help build a house at will? "
Not only did he scold him, but he also hit him hard with a stick and made him cry. Instead of saying a word of comfort, Master snapped at him, "Why are you crying? When you first arrived, you told me that you would give me your body, mouth and mind. Now I'm beating my own things and cursing my own things. Why are you crying? "
Milarepa suffered far more than we imagined. He silently endured all kinds of hardships and tempering. How many years later, Milarepa finally became a monk and proved to be a great Siraitia grosvenorii. On the night of his enlightenment, Master held him in his arms and wept bitterly: "Because you are a wizard once in a blue moon, I will spare no effort to hone you in the most difficult way so that you can achieve enlightenment as soon as possible. Master's heart hurts when he scolds you, hits you, and is heartless to you. However, for the sake of your future, the host has to endure to urge you again and again ... "
This seemingly unreasonable harsh behavior is actually the supreme love of the sages.
When I was a child, I became a monk and was educated in this way. When we went to the ring field to receive the ring, the instructors sat in a row and asked us, "Did you come to receive the ring yourself, or did Master call you?"? Someone rushed to answer: "The teacher is merciful! It was the disciple who volunteered to be ordained. " Hearing this, the teacher did not say a word. He picked up his cane and beat it. Then he said, "How dare you? Your master didn't call you. "
Another teacher asked you the same question: "Did you come to be ordained by yourself, or did your teacher ask you to come?" I was scared when I saw someone being beaten just now. I quickly turned over and carefully replied: "Teacher, be merciful! It was my mentor who taught me to be ordained. " I thought my answer was very good, but I was beaten again and said, "Oh dear! Your master didn't ask you to be ordained, so you didn't come to be ordained? "
It makes sense to look down. Don't you know how to make progress without guiding yourself to be ordained? Another teacher is still the same problem. After two experiences, I quickly and deftly said, "Master asked me to be ordained, and the disciples came to ask for it themselves." Such an answer must be foolproof? Unexpectedly, I was beaten again and said, "You are very slippery."
This level has finally passed. When I arrived at another abstainer, the topic changed: "Have you killed anyone in the past?" Killing is a crime. How can you say you killed? Hurriedly shook his head and said, "I didn't kill anyone."
"oh! Didn't you step on an ant and kill a mosquito at home? Clearly lying! " So I cracked again, and I was sure I should lie. There is another one, the same question, so I have to admit it truthfully: "Report the teacher!" Disciples kill. ""sin! Sin! "The whip fell like rain. Finally, no matter what the teacher asked, he didn't want to answer. He can only say helplessly: "teacher, you can fight if you want!" "
The kind of education we receive is to treat reason unreasonably and treat all beings mercilessly. If you are willing to bow your head in an unreasonable and heartless way, can't you be trusted and followed before the truth? The teacher's ruthlessness is actually for the convenience of our powerful beings. This ruthlessness is actually a kind of great sorrow! I often feel very happy myself, because we have received such a strict education, just like scrap copper and iron being thrown into a smelting furnace and turned into steel. Although it is very hard, in retrospect, it is really a blessing.
I often feel sorry for teenagers nowadays. In this era, the biggest loss is the lack of a spirit tempered in education, and this great compassion of hating iron and learning from Tao Zhu needs greater love.
3. Lohan's human love
Love is hierarchical. From the initial deep affection between husband and wife, it has expanded to brothers and sisters, to relatives and friends, to neighbors, compatriots, the people of the whole country, to all animals and all sentient beings. From the love of ordinary people to the love of sages, and then to the love of Lohan, the love of Lohan Bodhisattva is hard to see.
The bodhisattva, the king of earth treasure, whom we often worship, practices in Jiuhua Mountain, Anhui Province. Among the mountains, there are few people, and only one or two boys live with him. One day, the young boy was not used to living in the mountains and wanted to go down. The earth treasure king sent the boy down the mountain and gave him a poem. We can see the hearts of Lohan and Bodhisattva from this poem. What is their love?
"Lonely and homesick, I will pay tribute to Jiuhua in Bie Yun's room."
These two sentences mean: Buddhists are so lonely and miss their hometown. Now that you have bid farewell to our place as high as a cloud, you will go down to Jiuhua Mountain.
"Love riding a bamboo horse to the bamboo fence, lazy to pick gold sand."
It means: you! I like to ride bamboo horses like a child, and I don't want to gather sand here to practice merit.
"The bottom of the bottle and the ravine don't touch the moon, so don't make flowers in the basin."
It means: when you go back to a stream with water to change water with a vase, don't go fishing for that stream. The world is illusory, not real. What you see when washing dishes is the reflection of flowers and trees. Don't think there is a real world of flowers and flowers in the pond.
"Don't need to cry often when you go. The old monk is accompanied by haze. "
You go! There is no need to shed tears. I live in Jiuhua Mountain and have my own companions. Look at the clouds in the sky, the clouds in the sky, the light smoke. Can't nature accompany me?
Lohan, a bodhisattva like this, is considerate, loves and comforts teenagers, and everything he says is out there.
When Master Dao Ji lived in Guanfu Temple in Yizhou in the Tang Dynasty, he took in many lepers, all of whom were smelly. Master Dao Ji not only didn't abandon them, but also treated them patiently without getting bored. When the wind came, many believers dodged and dared not approach. Someone asked Ji: Master, you are with some smelly lepers every day. Aren't you afraid of being infected?
Daoji smiled and said, "Virtue is a mirror: the so-called purity and filth are the functions of human mind. If there is no hatred in your heart, where will there be resentment? My heart is clean, everything is clean. If I were a monk, I would not let go of this arrogance, let alone this compassion. Is it not shameful? "
Lohan bodhisattva, sage, broad-minded, compassionate and equal, everything is with me.
Mahayana, the great disciple of the Buddha, is the great arhat. Da Ye Jia is the son of a wealthy family. His parents asked him to get married, but he refused. He said he wanted to build a monastery. Persecuted by her parents, she had to carve a woman out of gold and told her parents that only a beautiful girl like her would get married. His parents sent people to carry this golden statue to parade all over the country, saying that it was a golden statue, and girls would have good luck to worship her, so girls from all over the country came to worship. When a young girl came to the golden statue, her golden light was suddenly eclipsed, and everything was covered up by her beauty. Later, I married her back as a wife. It turns out that she is a famous beauty Miaoxian.
Miaoxian married Dayejia. It turns out that this wonderful fairy also wants to practice Buddhism. At first, she blamed Daye Jia: "My parents asked me to marry you for the wealth of your family, which violated my wish to practice Buddhism." Hearing this, the da Ye Jia said, "that's good. I also want to practice Buddhism. Let's practice each other! "
So, nominally husband and wife, in fact, they are still practicing. 12, parents died. Thinking that he could practice according to his own wishes, he became a nun. Later, I became a monk and a nun respectively. Because Mrs Miao Xian is beautiful, although she is a monk, every time she goes out to beg, many teenagers follow her and play jokes on her, making her afraid to go out for alms. Sakya, once a nominal husband, went out to beg and gave her some food.
So it caused a lot of gossip: "Look at all of you, 12 nominal husband and wife, now they are monks and nuns, and they are still so loving." Later, Miao Xian deeply lamented that it was a very sad thing to be beautiful, so she turned her appearance ugly and hoped to be an "ugly monk and a beautiful man." Therefore, the love of the big arhat is quite different from the common sense of the world.
There is a couplet hanging in the Buddhist temple's fasting hall: "Don't think that Buddhist tea and rice are light, and monks' feelings are no better than vulgar feelings." In the eyes of the world, arhat has abandoned secular feelings and lived a heartless life. In fact, Arhat is a heartless and affectionate saint, full of the greatest love and nature. Arhat's ruthlessness transcends children's affair and abandons personal greed. Only by abandoning the ruthlessness of the affair between men and women can we show great selfless infinite compassion to all sentient beings.
We see that Master Hongyi avoided seeing his wife and children. In the Tang Dynasty, he didn't listen to the Zen master behind closed doors. It seemed heartless, but in fact he was affectionate. They purify their love for their wives and children into the pursuit of truth and carry forward their love for all sentient beings. Therefore, true love is not having each other, but a communication of life and an endless contribution to the whole world!
4. The love of Buddha on earth
What about the love life of the Buddha who became the Great Sage?
The Buddha's mother died on the seventh day of his birth. After the Buddha became a monk, he always hoped to speak Buddhism for his mother and repay his mother for giving birth. Later, he finally spoke for his mother in Helitian and his wish came true. After the death of Sudoku, the Buddha's father, the princes agreed to personally carry the coffin for his father. Although the Buddha achieved his goal, he personally carried the coffin for his father. Everyone saw the Buddha in the coffin-carrying team, and all the disciples were moved. It also sets a good example for us Buddhists to be filial to their parents. Buddha is really a great saint with both loyalty and filial piety.
Buddha's love is based on "hate and equality". As we know, before the Buddha became a monk, he had already married Princess Yalotora, the eldest daughter of the heavenly soldiers and heavenly generals. After becoming a monk, the Buddha will return to his hometown where he has been separated from 10 for many years. A Buddha who becomes a Buddha will eventually meet a wife who lives alone in an empty boudoir. Yaodharā is very worried. I don't know what her husband has become. Her heart is full of expectations and doubts, and she doesn't know how to meet him.
After catching up with his father, minister and prince, the Buddha finally came to see yaodharā. Yaodharā thought, "I want to ask him why he abandoned me?" However, when she saw the solemn appearance of the Buddha, she knelt down unconsciously. The Buddha said calmly and solemnly, "yaodharā, please forgive me; Although I am personally sorry for you, I am worthy of all sentient beings. Now, please be happy for me I finally realized my wish to survive the robbery. I have become a Buddha. I wish to travel through all beings, and you are among me. "Everyone was moved by the sympathetic voice, the solemn gesture and the voice beyond love. Yaodharā finally became a monk. Therefore, to really care about a person is to guide him to the right path and help him mature day by day, not just physically together.
The Buddha did this to his relatives as well as to his enemies. Devadatta, the Buddha's enemy, confronted him. However, the Buddha never resented him and always told everyone that Tianbao was his inversion and his good knowledge. Where is light without darkness? Where can there be a good reason without sin? Without the Buddha, how can a great and lofty Buddha achieve Buddhism and Taoism?
Buddha's compassion is not only for those dignitaries, but for all sentient beings. When the disciple was ill, the Buddha personally sent him water to decoct medicine; The old monk's eyesight is blurred, so it is not convenient to sew clothes. The Buddha threaded the needle for him. Buddha loves his disciples, just like a loving mother, giving them light and relying on all beings. Buddha is really our kind navigation and our endless hope!
The Buddha taught his disciples to be skillful, convenient and patient. For a Niti who collects dung, the Buddha specially detoured to measure him; The Buddha patiently told Zhou Li Pantoga that he was too stupid to recite a poem. He told him about Buddhism and enlightened him. His disciple Jia Jianyan preached far away. One day, he sent a little disciple to worship Buddha. When the Buddha knew this, he said to his disciple, "Jia Jianyan's disciple is here. Let him sleep in my room!" " The lofty and great Buddha is so kind to children from afar. The Buddha not only cares about his little disciple, but also cares about Jia who preaches in the distance.
Anaru, who was blind, didn't feel at ease until he got the insight of the sky. Ananda is often troubled by women, so the stone in the Buddha's heart is put down until the venerable Ananda really becomes a monk.
So we talk about "talking about love", and love is hierarchical. We have expanded from the initial two of a kind, the love between husband and wife, to the brotherhood of brothers and sisters, to the care of relatives and friends, and to the sorrow of human beings and all sentient beings in the world. From the love possessed by ordinary people, we can achieve the love of sages and people, and finally sublimate it into the great compassion of buddhas and bodhisattvas. "May all beings be free from suffering and not seek happiness for themselves."
