He is a good man in Zhou Pu (now Jieyu County, Shaanxi Province). It is said that Guan Yu is the reincarnation of Qinglong, with a long face. And long, nine feet five inches high, there must be one foot eight inches long, with a face like a heavy jujube, and if the lips rub sand, the phoenix eyes will lie on the silkworm eyebrows, and thousands of people will be defeated. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Guan Yu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei became sworn brothers in Taoyuan and plotted to arise. Defending Pi was defeated by Cao Cao. He was regarded as a special gift and worshipped as a partial general. Later, he solved the danger of Cao Cao and repaid Yan Liang, Yuan Shao's brave general. Cao Cao named Guan Yu Hou Ting of Hanshou, and the reward was very generous. Guan Yu learned that Liu Bei was behind, so he sealed it and left all Cao Cao's gifts to his righteous brother Liu Bei. After Liu Bei built Shu, Guan Yu was in charge of Xiangyang and Jingzhou. Guan Yu defeated Coss in Fancheng, beheaded Pound, escaped the ban and built seven armies, which had a great influence on China. Later, because of underestimating the enemy, he defeated Maicheng and was finally killed. It is said that his head was buried in Guanlin, Luoyang, Henan, and his body was buried in Yuquan Mountain, Dangyang, Hubei. Later generations felt their loyalty, so they sacrificed when they were old.

According to Taoist records, after Guan Yu became immortal in Yuquan Mountain, he met an iron bowl and became a general. In the Song Dynasty, under the call of Shi Tian Xu Jing in the 30th generation, he appeared at the command to behead the monster. Song Zhenzong Qijia's Contribution to Defending the Country and People. Among them, the third year of Baining (1 104) called Guan Yu "the true king of Baining". Therefore, the folk belief in Guan Yu is related to Taoism. It is recorded in The Legacy of Xuanhe in the Great Song Dynasty that Guan Yu was worshiped for Ning for five years (1 106), and in Jixian County, Zhang Tianshi, Guan Yu was asked to cut off the dumplings that caused trouble in Xiezhou, further establishing Guan Yu's position in Taoism. Great Sage Lang Ling's Grand Ceremony of Protecting the Country was written at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty and the beginning of the Southern Song Dynasty. It was called "Marshal Wang Hanshou Pavilion and Grand Marshal Hou Guan" and was appointed by the Jade Emperor as "the suggestion of Du Feng, the head of Sanjie Capital". Among the titles given to Guan Yu by the rulers in history, the title of Zunning Zhenjun shows that Guan Yu has become a Taoist god, which is an important step for Guan Yu to evolve from a folk god to a Taoist god. In the Yuan Dynasty, Wu 'an was made king of Ying Ji. In the early Ming Dynasty, Guan Zhuang, Miao Gong and Yue Fei offered sacrifices together, and the martial arts temples around the country were called Guan Yue Temple. In the thirty-third year of Wanli (1605), it was named the Demon Emperor of the Three Realms, the Emperor of Megatronus and the Emperor of Guan Sheng. In the first year of Shunzhi in Qing Dynasty, he was named "Loyal and Righteous SHEN WOO Guan Sheng the Great". In the fifth year of Kangxi (1666), it was renamed as "Loyalty, Righteousness, Spiritual Protection and Wei Xian Guan Shengdi", and the monument was erected in Guanlin, Luoyang. Since the Northern Song Dynasty, Taoism has regarded Guan Di as one of the deities to protect the gods, and some people call it "the true monarch plays magic" or "the emperor who reduces magic". Folk commonly known as Guan Sheng Di Jun or Guan Di. Some people in Taiwan Province Province also called Guandi "mysterious and aloof".

Between miracle and worship in Song and Yuan Dynasties, Guan Di is a symbol of loyalty. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, many people flew to the altar and asked Guan Di to write down his works. Guandi Shi Jue Zhen Jing, Guandi Ming Bible and Jieshi Wen Zi are widely circulated among the people. People worship Guan Di, which goes far beyond the Taoist concept of Guan Di as a protector. But Wu Shen, who regarded Guan Di as the god of wealth and justice. They all prayed for Guandi, such as ordering imperial examinations, eliminating disasters and diseases, exorcising evil spirits, punishing traitors, inspecting secret departments, sheltering merchants, dredging financial resources and making decisions. Especially in the secret society of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the loyalty of Guan Di was the spiritual bond formed by political parties. When they joined the partnership, became sworn brothers and took the oath, they all burned incense and sacrificed blood in front of the statue of Guan Di as evidence. From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, Guandi Temple was built in various places, and some large-scale Taoist temples and even Buddhist temples were also carved with statues of emperors or dedicated to Guandi, and their incense was similar to that of Chenghuang Temple and Land Temple. Guan Di's birthday, one said it was May 13th, and the other said it was the 13th of the first month. On God's birthday, Guandi Temple always opens the Dojo to make birthday wishes. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, some people lamented that its incense was almost "immortal with heaven and earth".
