Zhengguo Town is located in the northeast of Zengcheng District, the easternmost part of Guangzhou, backed by Luofu Mountain and crossed by Zengjiang River. Zhengguo Temple, one of the eight scenic spots in Zengcheng, is located at the foot of Ruidong Mountain in Zhengguo Town, Zengcheng District, Guangzhou. Founded in the third year of Qingyuan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 197), it was rebuilt in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It has a history of more than 900 years.

The slightly old plaque of Zhengguo Temple reflects the fresh streets, and the spiritual beauty and vicissitudes that have passed through ancient and modern times blend perfectly under the sky of Zhengguo Town. Zhengguo Temple is built by Ruishan in the east, Zengjiang in the west and south in the north.

It is an ancient building with three beams, hard peaks and peaks, and its exquisite ancient building decoration skills such as "three supports" (lotus support, swallow support, dragon and phoenix support) and "three sculptures" (stone carving, wood carving and relief) are amazing.

The origin of the temple name:

The founder of Zhengguo Temple is the Buddha of Kegong, which enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad. The reason why Bingong Buddha is famous in Lingnan is that Bingong was originally a Buddha after the death of a real person. According to the genealogy, his name is Yu Bingong, and the layman calls him "Cowboy Buddha". Born in Kangding for three years in the Northern Song Dynasty (1042).

In the first year of Huang You in the Northern Song Dynasty (1049), Bingong and his sister were herding cattle at their grandmother's house in Zuilong Village, when they were only seven years old. One day, Bingong's temperament changed suddenly and he loved Buddhism. He puts out the fruits of fasting every day and tells his colleagues to fast like monks. People of the same age are surprised and at a loss. Because they became Buddhists and monks, they all left because of fear.

When herding cattle, he told his colleagues about the "savvy" of Buddhism, saying that with savvy, you can be a prophet. And told peers that Zengcheng is now putting on a big show. His peers don't believe him. He first drove the cattle to a place, made a big circle around the place where the cattle grazed with the prepared "divine water", and then invited his colleagues to Zengcheng together.

Afraid of cattle stealing crops, the colleague said, "Come with me, that is, go back for an hour." . Colleagues thought what he said was amazing and left with him. He told his companions to pull the tail of his shirt, close their eyes and listen to their orders. One step went to Dabukou, the other to Zengcheng, and after watching a scene, I saw cows still grazing in the pen.

Later, Bingong entered Mingshan Temple to cut his hair and become a monk, and he also did many legendary things: during his becoming a monk, he was scabbed all over and his clothes were dirty, and he smelled the stench within dozens of steps. The monk was afraid that he would be rejected when he went out, so he left him in the temple every time he went to Zhai. But when he got to the study, he was already sitting there.

At the age of sixteen, he was sitting on a stone in Ruishan. When the monks in Mingshan Temple pushed him, he was like a boulder, and his body was difficult to move. Finally, they had to build a temple on the spot to worship him.

After Bingong ascended the throne, people engraved the three characters "Buddha Rock" on the rock where he sat, which is clearly visible today. Later, the remains of Bingong Buddha were moved into Zhengguo Temple and made into plastic Buddha statues for people to worship.
