Are immortals good or bad?

In eastern mythology, people who are called immortals are basically good people. But in western mythology, God and man are almost the same, and there must be a distinction between good and evil. This good and evil is generally related to what this god cares about. Actually, I think it's God's nature. This is quite rare in our oriental mythology. (However, Japanese mythology should also be different from the oriental mythology I mentioned. When I say oriental mythology, I mean China mythology. )
