Eight-character Tibetan stems mean that besides heavenly stems and earthly branches, there are other heavenly stems hidden in their own underground branches.

Because the heavenly stems in the eight characters represent Tianyuan and Yang, the earthly branches represent Japanese yen, and the heavenly stems attached to the earthly branches are yin, so from the perspective of yin-yang intercourse, they are naturally human elements. The hidden stem of the earth branch can measure whether the heavenly stem has roots or not in the five elements of the earth branch. "Rooted" means that there are five elements of heavenly stems, such as heavenly stems, trees, soil and water, which are the same as their own attributes in the earthly branches.

They all have roots; "Rootless" means that the five elements in the sky are different from their underground branches. For example, heavenly stems and earthly branches is water, ugly soil and scorched fire, which means that heavenly stems and earthly branches has no roots.
