Not long ago, the first international symposium on Hakka studies (1992) was held in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hakka scholars from all corners of the country expressed their views with unprecedented pomp. Over the years, various Hakka conferences and social gatherings held frequently at home and abroad have pushed the activities of understanding, understanding, caring and building Hakka to a climax. "Hakkas are relatives in the world", the cohesion of Hakkas is getting stronger and stronger, and their influence is getting bigger and bigger.

As we all know, there are hundreds of counties (cities) in China with Hakka gathering places, and the mountainous areas in northern Guangdong are recognized as Hakka base camps. Jiaying Prefecture in history, that is, the areas under the jurisdiction of Meizhou City and Heyuan City today, are basically "pure Hakka" counties (cities), and Meizhou dialect is the representative of Hakka dialect at home and abroad. Not all Hakkas in Guangdong Province are concentrated in Chunke County (city) in the northeast. Almost every county in Shaoguan and Qingyuan in northern Guangdong has Hakka dialect. Hakka-inhabited towns and villages can be seen in Dongguan and Huizhou in the east of the Pearl River Delta, Taishan in the west, Baoan and Shenzhen in the south, and even the suburbs of New Territories and Guangzhou in Hong Kong. Raoping, our hometown, although the county town speaks Min dialect and studies Chaoshan dialect, and its administrative subordination is also under the jurisdiction of Chaozhou (in the past, it was under the jurisdiction of Shantou), but the county town is divided into north and south, and several towns in the northern mountainous area have always been places where Hakka people live, forming Shangrao Hakka dialect, which is far from Meizhou Hakka dialect, with a slight Chaozhou color and Gu Zhuo pronunciation. Because of this, Raoping county is both Chaozhou county and Hakka county, which can be said to be a typical semi-Hakka county.

Shangrao area belongs to the Hakkas, and naturally has the same characteristics as the Hakkas. People here have lived in remote mountainous areas for generations, and their ancestors have worked hard and worked hard, "relying on mountains to eat mountains." After a long struggle, they finally won a situation of increasing progress and prosperity. In today's tide of reform and opening up, Shangrao people are working hand in hand with the people of the whole county, and Qi Xin is making full use of the advantages of mountains and seas to build Raoping County into an advanced county with developed economy and affluent life in eastern Guangdong.

In the spirit of being brave and enterprising, the people in Raoping Hakka area have been trying to go abroad for more than ten years, giving lectures, doing business, going into politics or becoming a doctor. According to incomplete statistics, there are more than 1000 people studying and working in Guangzhou alone, including many scholars and experts. Such an army of knowledge scattered all over the country has now organized the Raoping Hakka Overseas Friendship Association, aiming at uniting the villagers and brainstorming, and at the same time making suggestions for the construction of their hometown and doing their part. I think such an organization is very meaningful and can play a role.

Since its establishment, the Friendship Association has put the topic of promoting hometown culture and building spiritual civilization on the agenda. Professor Deng, the headmaster, told me that he planned to organize his strength and give full play to his intellectual advantages to compile a set of Raoping Hakka series. This idea is really good, and it is a concrete manifestation of the brotherhood doing more practical things and doing more good things. I am in favor of compiling a series of books, so that more people in the society can know Shangrao and know Shangrao through this series. At the same time, we can use this series to educate our future generations to love their homeland. Rural sages at home and abroad can also seek roots through this series of books, cherish the memory of the sages and inspire the latecomers. In this way, the series will shoulder the important task of connecting the past and the future, and will also play a role in the construction of hometown and Raoping.

On the occasion of the completion of the compilation of the series of Fu Zi Raoping Hakka, I sincerely hope that it will be widely supported by folks at home and abroad and warmly cared by departments at all levels.
