Yaowan Ancient Town is located in the southwest of xinyi city, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, at the intersection of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and Roman Lake, at the junction of Pizhou, Suqian and Suining, 30 kilometers away from Xinyi County Government. The history of Yaowan ancient town can be traced back to the Spring and Autumn Period, and it has a history of 1400 years since it was founded in the first year of Wude in Tang Dynasty.

History and culture:

There is a traditional morning market in Yaowan, which is called "Night Owl Collection" by nearby residents. The formation of night owl collection is mainly related to canal water transportation. After the opening of the central canal, ships from south to north passed through Yaowan.

The water level of the canal in the north of Yaowan is shallow and can only be used for empty ships, while the water level in the south of Yaowan is deep and suitable for cargo ships. Therefore, both goods imported from the south and real estate projects in the north need to be loaded and unloaded in Yaowan.

In the long run, Yaowan will become an important flood control and drought relief wharf of the Grand Canal. At that time, the traffic conditions were limited, and merchant ships could only sail during the day. After the merchant ships docked at Yaowan at night, porters loaded and unloaded the goods, supplemented the food, and the boat people prepared enough daily necessities.
