How do Greek myths and legends tell about King Minos?

In Greek mythology, it is said that there was a Minoan king in Crete. He ordered the craftsman Daedalus to build a "maze" for his son Minotaur, so that no one could go out. Every nine years, King Minos asked the Athenians to send seven pairs of virgins to the Minotaur. Later, theseus, the hero of Athens, got the secret help from the daughter of King Minos, tied one end of the ball at the entrance, took it in, and cut off the minotaur from escaping from the "maze".
