Historical evolution of Puning urban area

The urban area is located in the east of the city center, at the northern foot of Da Nan Shan and upstream of Lianjiang River. In ancient times, there was sediment deposition in rivers and streams, and an alluvial beach was formed at the confluence of Hanma water, the source of Lianjiang River, and Sankeng water, the main tributary. Because the sand on the beach belongs to fluidity, it is named quicksand.

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, quicksand has been the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Puning, and with the process of urbanization, various functions are gradually dispersed outside the main city to alleviate the pressure of the old city, so it is customary to call seven streets including the urban area "quicksand (city) area". In the fifty-first year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (17 12), a quicksand fence was established.

During the Republic of China, Liusha was the residence of the second district office in Puning County.

1July, 949, the CPC Puning County Committee and the county government were established in Liusha.

1April 6, 993, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of Civil Affairs officially approved the revocation of the organizational system of Puning County and the establishment of Puning City (county level), with the former Liusha Town as the urban area of Puning City.

From June 5438 to February 2000, Liusha Town was abolished, and four sub-district offices were set up around Liusha East, Liusha West, Liusha South and Liusha North.

In 2002, Chiwei Town was abolished and Chiwei Sub-district Office was established.

On February 26th, 20 13, with the consent of the provincial people's government, the Provincial Civil Affairs Department officially approved Puning to cancel the establishment of Liaoyuan Town and Da Nanshan Town, and set up Liaoyuan Sub-district Office and Da Nanshan Sub-district Office.
