China is a country deeply influenced by Buddhist culture, and almost every part of the motherland has its own representative temples. For example, the well-known Baima Temple in Luoyang, Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng, Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou and Hanshan Temple in Suzhou are all local tourist cards. As a first-tier city, Guangzhou will naturally not be absent, and its representative temple is Guangxiao Temple. After all, there has always been a saying in Guangzhou that "there is no Yangcheng, there is a small light first" (Guangzhou is also called Yangcheng).

Guangxiao Temple is a large-scale famous ancient architectural complex in Guangdong Province. Its long history can be traced back to the second century BC, when it was the private residence of Zhao Jiande, king of South Vietnam. Things have changed, and in the Three Kingdoms period, it became the residence of Yu Fan of the State of Wu. After his death, his family turned the house into a temple.

The original Guangxiao Temple was renamed Wuyuan Temple, Jokhang Temple in Gan Ming, Ganheng Temple, manjuji Temple and Gratitude Guangxiao Temple. It was finally confirmed as Guangxiao Temple in the Southern Song Dynasty, which has been in use ever since and is a thousand-year-old temple.

Today, this ancient temple is still full of incense, and people come here to burn incense in an endless stream. When I first saw Guangxiao Temple, I was attracted by the ever-burning lamps on the Little Square in front of the temple. I saw a black building like a tower in the distance, but I didn't know it was an ever-burning lamp until I got closer.

The guardrail says "Free incense in Guangxiao Temple", which makes me feel very sad. It's really a slap in the face to the temple selling incense.

When I went, the sun was shining, and the three characters of "Guangxiao Temple" on the plaque were shining with golden light. As soon as I arrived at the door, the volunteer mother-in-law greeted me warmly and kept saying "no tickets". The tone of the elders makes me feel very kind.

On both sides of the gate stand the four heavenly kings of wind, tone, rain and smoothness, giving people a solemn feeling. There are many people in the temple, but there is no sound at all. Everyone made a pious wish and burned incense to worship Buddha.

The incense in Guangxiao Temple is different from other temples. Because it is located in a downtown area, the incense here is not allowed to be lit. After the ceremony, these incense sticks will be filed, and then volunteers will take them away and give them to other pilgrims.

Although the temple lacks a feeling of cigarette smoke, it is more beautiful. Many pilgrims do not leave immediately after offering incense, but walk around the temple to express their sincere worship to the Buddha.
