Guangxiao Temple is a temple with a long history, far-reaching influence and large scale in Lingnan. There is a saying that "there is little light first, then there is Yangcheng". Guangxiao Temple symbolizes the essence of Zen culture in China with its meticulous and rigorous architectural structure and magnificent hall. Built in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, Daxiong Hall is its main building. The three giant buddhas built in the Hall of Mahatma, with Sakyamuni in the middle and Manjusri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra around, are collectively called "Three Sages of Huayan"; The temples on the left and right are dedicated to the King, Bodhisattva and Guan Gong of Tibet, which is unique in the Buddhist circles in Guangdong. In addition, there is a slant hall on the west side of the Ursa Major Hall, which enshrines the reclining posture of Sakyamuni Buddha. It is said that Sakyamuni kept this posture when he was seriously ill, holding his head in his right hand, closing his eyes slightly, and finally nirvana under two sand trees.

There is a bodhi tree outside the temple. According to legend, Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Buddhism, was once shaved here, and Huineng, the sixth ancestor of Zen Buddhism, was once called "the Three Sages of the East" with Confucius and Laozi who wrote the Tanjing, and was one of the most important Buddhist monks in the history of China.
