Shaanxi Lane is located in Dashilan Street Community, Xuanwu District, Beijing. It is a north-south alley, starting from zhushikou West Street in the south and ending at Tieshuxie Street in the north, with a total length of about 500 meters.

Shaanxi Lane has a long history. According to Xu Ying's Sketch Collection of Beijing Hutong, at the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, a large number of merchants gathered outside Qianmen to attract investment and hoard goods to live in. Many timber merchants from Shaanxi gathered in this alley to hoard timber, so it was named Shaanxi Lane. In modern times, with the prosperity of culture in southern Beijing, it became one of the most prosperous places in southern Beijing. Speaking of the bustling place in the south of old Beijing, there is a saying: "Dashilan in Qianmen Street and Shaanxi Lane in Shitou Hutong" (these four places are connected, and you can walk all the way from north to south). Visiting Shaanxi Lane, you can also see two layers of blue brick buildings on both sides (these buildings were mostly theaters, teahouses or brothels at that time), but now they are mostly residential miscellaneous houses or hotels.

The well-preserved "Deshoutang" pharmacy on the west side of the south exit of Hutong is a factory-style building with a front store and a back factory. This drugstore is also one of the well-known brands with a long history in Beijing. Its main products are Niuhuang Jiedu Pill, hawthorn pill and various traditional Chinese medicine pills.

After the reform and opening up, especially since the 1990s, the earliest self-employed market street in Beijing once set up an archway named "Shaanxi Lane Stall Market" at the south entrance, during which all kinds of stall vendors gathered and became one of the busiest hutongs in Beijing at that time. Of course, since the beginning of 2 1 century, Beijing has unified management of scattered vendors, and with the transformation of the old city of Guang 'an Street (Guang 'anmen-Guangqumen), a large number of old residents have moved out, and now Shaanxi Lane has gradually lost its former prosperity.
