The Life of Characters in Wang Chang's Works

At the age of five, Wang Chang was smart and eager to study in a private school. At the age of eight, my parents died. At the age of ten, he traveled with his uncle to do business in the north and south of the Yangtze River, and he often came into contact with people in the society. He is very loyal in the Jianghu. As an adult, I am proficient in knives, arrows, fists and clubs, astronomical calendars and fortune telling. So, taking divination as a profession, I found that Handan was full of emperors' spirit, just to achieve great things, and lied that I was Liu Ziyu, the son of Emperor Hancheng.

Before Wang Mang established a new dynasty, Liu Ziyu, who claimed to be the son of Emperor Han Cheng, was killed by Wang Mang. Wang Chang used this incident to pretend that he was the real Liu Ziyu. Wang Chang and Liu Ling, the sons of Zhao Miaowang, said that they fled to Shu in order to avoid the persecution of Zhao Yanfei, the queen at that time, and learned that Hebei had the spirit of the son of heaven, so they moved to Hebei. Liu Ling, Zhao Haozu, Li Yu and Zhang Shen * * * plan to make Wang Chang Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.

At that time, it was widely rumored that the Red Eyebrow Army would cross the Yellow River northward. In October of the first year of the New Year (AD 23), the first emperor Liu Xuan ordered Liu Xiu to conquer Hebei. Liu Xiu visited Handan to meet Liu Ling. Liu Ling suggested that Liu Xiu burst its banks and drowned the Red Eyebrow Army in Hebei (actually only a small part of the Red Eyebrow Army), but Liu Xiu disagreed and left Handan for the north.

In December of the first year of restarting (AD 23), Liu Ling led hundreds of cars to ride into Handan City, and established his own regime in the palace of Prince Zhao early in the morning, with Wang Chang as the emperor. Historically, this regime was called "Zhao Han" to distinguish it from Xuanhan and Chimeihan. Wang Chang was appointed as Prime Minister, Li Yu as Fu and General. Wang Chang sent troops to occupy Jizhou and Youzhou. He took advantage of the people's psychology of still thinking about Han, claiming that those who opposed Wang Mang before the establishment of the new dynasty were not dead, but supporting him, thus gaining popularity. North of Zhao and west of Liaodong are under the jurisdiction of Wang Chang. Immediately, Wang Chang issued an imperial decree: "Those who have Liu Xiu's head in the world will be rewarded with 654.38 million households."

At the beginning of the second year (AD 24), Liu Xiu recruited and strengthened his strength. Herry Liu and Geng Chun led more than 2,000 ethnic guests to Liu Xiu. Shanggu satrap Geng Kuang and Yuyang satrap Chong Peng sent assault cavalry to support Liu Xiu, and Wang Chang began to be at a disadvantage. After that, Wang Chang suffered a losing streak all over Hebei. In April, Liu Xiu marched into Handan. In May, the city of Handan was broken. Wang Chang escaped from Handan by night and was killed on the way. At this point, Zhao Han's political power ended.
