Liujiang River belongs to the left bank tributary of the boundary point between Hongshui River and Qianjiang River of Xijiang River in the Pearl River system. Originated in the 99th pond of Lacun Village, Yaosuo Township, dushan county City, Guizhou Province (said Moshiwan near Lalin Township), it flows through southeastern Guizhou and northern Guangxi, joins the Hongshui River in Sanjiangkou, Shilong Town, Xiangzhou County, Guangxi Province, and joins the Qianjiang section of Xijiang River. The main stream is 773.3 kilometers long.

Liujiang river basin covers an area of 57 173 square kilometers, spanning 30 counties and cities in Guizhou, Guangxi and Hunan provinces. The total length is 734 kilometers, the natural drop is 1.289 meters, and the average annual discharge of the estuary is 1.630 cubic meters per second. The total population is 5.557 million and the cultivated land is 7.205 million mu. Industry is mainly concentrated in Liuzhou City, Hechi City, Yishan County and other places.
