Being a soldier refers to the military service in contemporary China. In modern China, it refers to going to the countryside to be a soldier. National military service, a large part of the army, is two years. Every healthy male citizen must have a physical examination at the age of 18, and will receive a medical examination notice (except for male students who are still studying at school, but they can register voluntarily). Only after passing the medical examination and political examination can you be enlisted in the army. Those who were not enlisted in that year can still be enlisted for active service before the age of 22.
