Eating rice cakes Here in Oubei Town, all villagers have the habit of eating rice cakes. Breakfast on the first day of the first month, that is, the first meal on New Year's Eve, is usually prepared on New Year's Eve. Dishes must use high bowls, which are called "higher every year", and some people eat rice cakes. "cake" and "high" are homophonic. I also like to eat rice cakes. There are fried rice cakes, boiled rice cakes, steamed rice cakes and fried rice cakes. These practices are common, but they are rare in three provinces and one city in southwest China. I like eating rice cakes, and I like cooking rice cakes best. They are oily but not greasy, with the faint fragrance of vegetables and the delicious taste of onions and seafood. Young people get up early to pay New Year greetings to their parents and other elders, and then go out to pay New Year greetings with gifts such as jujube, longan and litchi. People of the same generation pay New Year greetings, hand in hand, and exchange greetings such as "Happy New Year" and "Congratulations on making a fortune".
