The ancient city wall of Chaling Southern Song Dynasty was made of red gypsum.

The original city wall was 8.4 meters high, 4.4 meters thick and 3,353.33 meters in circumference. There are five gates: Yingxun Gate, Tongxiang Gate, Weizimen Gate, Chaotianmen Gate and Juxing Gate.

In the year of Xinhai in Qing Dynasty (167 1), Dachengmen was added between Yingxunmen and Weizimen. There are four watchtowers and 2366 battlements on the wall, as well as watchtowers and watchtowers.
