topography

Inner Mongolia Baiyin Engel Autonomous Region Nature Reserve is located in the northwest of Ordos Basin. Affected by Yanshan movement, the geology gradually sank and accepted huge Cretaceous deposits. It began to rise at the end of Cretaceous, and in the middle and late tertiary, local areas began to sink again, accepting tertiary sediments.

The area where the reserve is located is a wavy high plains (good land) landform. The western part of Engelgacha, Baiyin, where the Nature Reserve is located, is close to Li Qianshan Mountain, and belongs to a hilly plateau with an altitude of1068-1282m. The absolute height difference exceeds 400 meters. The landform is characterized by strong denudation and exposed bedrock. There are different degrees of sedimentary flaky sand body coverage in the depression.

This area is a grassland desert zone with typical zonal and display plants.
