Cultivation techniques of cucumber

1. Soil preparation: Cucumber likes fertile, loose soil with good water retention, and its pH value is between 6.0 and 7.0. Before planting, sufficient tillage and fertilization should be carried out, and appropriate amount of decomposed organic fertilizer and trace elements such as phosphorus and potassium should be added.

Second, seed selection: choose seeds with excellent varieties and stable quality, pay attention to the preservation period and quality of seeds, and suggest choosing high-quality pollution-free or organic seeds.

3. Sowing date: Cucumber is a thermophilic crop, with the optimum temperature of 20-32℃ and the optimum growth temperature of 22-28℃. Planting is usually carried out in spring or early summer, such as March-April or June-July.

You can choose direct seeding or transplanting after seedling raising. In direct seeding, when the weather is clear and the soil is wet, the seeds are evenly scattered in the ditch, and the soil is covered by about 1-2 cm to keep the soil wet.

When transplanting after seedling raising, the seedlings should be planted in fertile soil during the growth period, and the roots should not be damaged.

After sowing, it is how to manage. Cucumber grows fast, so weeding, loosening soil, watering, topdressing and pest control should be done in time, and liquid fertilizers and pesticides should be sprayed on cucumber leaves to enhance the disease resistance of plants.

Cucumber should be harvested in time during the growing period. So as to avoid quality degradation due to overgrowth. When harvesting, we should pay attention to gentle techniques to avoid damaging plants. Generally, cucumbers will be harvested when they grow to about 15-20cm.
