How to plant Lagerstroemia indica seeds

1, prepare the soil and make a bed. Lagerstroemia indica has strong growth ability, can quickly adapt to various soils, and can grow and plant in dry and cold environment. However, in order to improve the ornamental value of Lagerstroemia indica, artificial planting should first choose acidic sandy soil with deep soil and sufficient fertility. Suitable environment can ensure the robust growth of Lagerstroemia indica, improve the quality of flowers and increase the flowering rate. After selecting the land, prepare the soil, loosen the soil and level it, then control the width and dig the sowing ditch, and apply sufficient fertilizer to prepare for sowing.

2. Collect seeds and soak them. The flowering period of Lagerstroemia indica is relatively long compared with other flowers, generally about 2-4 months, and it exists in the form of flowers and fruits. At the end of autumn every year, when the color of fruits gradually darkens and some fruits begin to crack, harvest them in time. After harvesting, take out the seeds and wash the pulp mucus on the seed coat. In order to improve the germination rate of seeds, the germination time is advanced. Seeds should be disinfected before sowing. First, soak the seeds in potassium permanganate solution for about 24-48 hours, then clean the residual liquid medicine on the seeds, and then soak them in warm water of about 48 degrees for the same time. After soaking, they should be dried for sowing.

3. Sow in time. The sowing time of Lagerstroemia indica is generally in spring, and the seeds are scattered in the seedbed prepared in advance. Put two seeds, each about 4 cm, and cover them with fine soil about 3 cm after sowing to prevent the seeds from being exposed to the air and germinate after about half a month. Keep the soil moist after emergence and water it in time. When the seedlings grow about two true leaves, they should be interplanted in time to provide enough growth space for all healthy seedlings. Improve the permeability of seedbed, promote ventilation and provide sufficient light.

4. Seedling management. Management should be done well during the seedling growth period, and topdressing should be done in time when summer is hot and dry, and the topdressing times should be no less than twice. Moreover, we should pay attention to the soil moisture content, water frequently, and be careful not to overdo it to prevent serious water accumulation, which will lead to rotting roots of seedlings and affect normal growth. Under normal management, in the winter of that year, the seedlings can grow to about 65 cm, and the young trees with vigorous growth can bloom. Then do a good job of clearing the garden in winter, prune the young trees to help them survive the winter, and then transplant them appropriately in the spring of the following year according to the actual situation.
