Why do trees and flowers need pruning in spring?

1. Pruning sequence

To trim independent branches, we should master the principle of seeing once, cutting twice and checking three times. Before pruning, we should look at the growth potential, branch distribution and crown state of trees, especially perennial branches, and look carefully before pruning. Cut from top to bottom, from inside to outside, first rough cut and then fine cut. Cut off dead branches, dense branches, overlapping branches and other branches first, and then cut the remaining branches short. The cut bud stays in the expected growth direction of the branch. When retraction and pruning are needed, the big branches, middle branches and last branches should be treated first. After pruning, check whether the treatment is reasonable, whether there is missing or wrong shearing, so as to correct or repair the shearing.

2. Precautions for pruning

(1) Pay attention to safety: when pruning, all appliances and machinery must be flexible and firm to prevent accidents. Pay attention to high-voltage lines when pruning street trees to prevent the sawn branches from hurting pedestrians and vehicles.

(2) Don't tear the bark when sprouting and tillering, so as not to affect the growth of trees.

(3) Pruning tools: sharp cutting. After pruning the diseased branches, the general tree keeper should handle them in time, and then prune other branches to prevent cross-infection. Pruned branches of pests and diseases are collected and burned in time.
