Grafting propagation should be carried out from late February to early March every year, that is, before the branches of Lagerstroemia indica germinate.

Cutting should be trimmed to about 15 cm, with annual robust branches, and then inserted into the well-drained loose sandy loam seedbed to expose the cutting depth of the top bud. After completion, it can be watered and covered with plastic film to keep warm and moisturize.

When the seedlings grow to about 1.5-20 cm, remove the film, put on a shade net for maintenance, and water them properly, and branches with a length of about 60-80 cm can be obtained in that year.

This method should be carried out in July and August, that is, during the vigorous growth period of new branches.

Select semi-lignified branches for cutting, trim them to the length of 8- 10 cm, and leave 2-3 leaves at the top. The cutting depth is about 3-4cm. Then pour the water thoroughly and shade it properly.

Generally, it can take root in about 20 days, or it should be shaded properly and watered moderately. The survival rate of branches is high, which can grow to about 60-80 cm in that year.

The stratified propagation method of Lagerstroemia indica can be effectively carried out in the whole growth period of Lagerstroemia indica, and the best time is March-April in spring.

If the air layering method is used, healthy branches of 1-2 years old should be selected, and the branches should be peeled off at a depth of about 1.5 cm with a knife, and xylem should be exposed at a depth of about 3 cm above the wound site, and diluted rooting powder solution should be applied.

After the powder is dried, put a cylindrical plastic bag cover on the incision, fill it with loose garden soil, pour it into both ends of the bag, and check it after one month. Pay attention to the moisture retention of the soil in the bag, and then cut it off and plant it after the roots grow out.
