How to distinguish bauhinia from bauhinia?

The name of Osmunda japonica is very similar to that of Bauhinia japonica, but its appearance is quite different. The leaves of Osmunda japonica are papery, obovate and oval in shape, and about 2.5-7 cm long. Flowers are panicles, and the colors are red, white and purple, which are quite diverse. The leaves of Bauhinia are leathery, nearly round, about 8.5- 13 cm long, and the flowers are terminal or axillary racemes with purple color.
