Song Lian's A Passage to Langya Mountain and its Classical Chinese Translation

Original text:

In the eighth year of Hongwu, the emperor used the prince and the kings to stay in the palace for a long time, unable to express their spirits, and ordered Xixing Zhongdu to hunt along the road and teach martial arts. There is a letter for you when you are in a hurry. On February 10, the second Chuzhou post invited you to visit Langya Mountain, and the Crown Prince gladly accepted it, that is, about four long-history colleagues.

From the southwest of the post, after about three miles in Gao Ping, you can see the majestic Fengshan and get out of Langya Peak. Living in the clouds: there is a valley at the foot of the mountain, and the terrain is low, surrounded by mountains, including Ziwei Spring made by Song Ouyang Gong Xiu. More than ten steps on the spring are Fengle Pavilion, and hundreds of steps to the east are Xingxin Pavilion. From the pavilion to the west, you can enter Tianning Temple. Today is all rubbish, only cool smoke and white grass. It's a long time for a disappointed person to hear his words.

About three miles to the west, there is a spring flowing between the two mountains and flowing down the river, saying that the spring is crystal clear and can be learned. There is a pavilion on the shore that says "Getting Better", but it has been abolished today, except for the four big characters between the cliffs and stones. Pass by Xue Lao Bridge along the stream and enter Zuiweng Pavilion. The pavilion has been abandoned for a long time, and the stone carvings of celebrities are quite a bunch. After the soldiers, they were burned to chalk. After the pavilion, the Four Temples were also abolished. On one side of the pavilion, there is a glass spring, also known as Liu Yiquan, which is covered by a stone fence. Under the fence, there is a boulder with a middle circulation spring, which can be five or six inches in diameter. Drinking with your hands is warm.

It's cloudy and the snow is fluttering. Jing Bo urged, "If the snow is done, what will it be?" You swam around, you were strong, so you turned to swim puffer fish. Walk one mile across the stone road and return to Maling. Bo You followed closely, and Bo Qing followed closely. Bo You said, "Those two passengers are too weak to keep up." Two guests, Bo Xian and Uncle.

The snake is winding among the yellow-haired white reeds, and I don't know what to do. Fortunately, there are many remains of the stupa in Xining, Song Dynasty, and there is no doubt about the path. If the road is poor, it will be clear again, and the peak will turn, and the nine locks will be repaired to Kaihua Temple. The temple is in the deepest part of Langya Mountain. It is precious to all the children in the mountain, but it is not beautiful.

Shaoning, a monk in the temple, has food to eat. After dinner, you can see the spring of the bastard. Mountain Spring Out was written by Li Youqing in Tang Dynasty and sealed by Li Suo. Ming died, and his three-character tablet was broken, lying under the spring. There are many Confucian inscriptions on the cliff, which have existed since Emperor Yangdi and Xichun. Words or seals, or official scripts or model letters, or distinguishable or indistinguishable, everything in the mountains is in today, not in spring. Qingbo searched for scenic spots since childhood, carved stone and painted springs into streams, and made a piano table for meditation rooms. Later generations followed its trend, and there were dozens of pavilions in the mountains. Today, Jing Zhen is looking forward to it. Although there is no way to find the body, it's a pity!

Abandoning pavilions is a common thing in physics. Is it ridiculous? What is the limit of a generous person, a person with wonderful mountains and beautiful waters in the world? First, it is located under the state, and there are no places of interest. Young and frivolous, you will be ignorant. And young Qing can really make nirvana in fire smell. Since it is not Ouyang Gong's writing, is it safe enough to reach the world? Or is it that words have nothing to do with the world and the results are conclusive? I read Yuan Zhen, fled to the barren land, and found no future. Now I can go to my class to accompany Di Zi, and the victory of Langya won the victory of poor travel. Isn't Shengde widely acclaimed and cleared away the evil consequences caused by the sea? It is a sound song suitable for broadcasting, which gives you a glimpse of the clouds. Translation:

In the eighth year of Hongwu in Daming (1375), the emperor (Zhu Yuanzhang) thought that princes and other governors were looking forward to being in the palace, and there was no way to stimulate their spiritual growth (energy could not be vented), so he ordered them to go west to Zhongdu (Fengyang) to hunt along the way and practice martial arts. I was ordered to accompany you. /kloc-On the afternoon of October/February, Yi Fu team was temporarily stationed at Chuzhou post. I asked to visit Langya Mountain, and the Crown Prince readily agreed, so he made an appointment with four regular attendants.

Starting from Chuzhou Post Station to the southwest, you can see the majestic Fengshan in the distance, beyond Langya Peak, after passing about three miles in Gao Ping. The local people pointed out that there are deep valleys under the mountain, and the terrain is low, surrounded by mountains on all sides, and there is a Ziwei Spring in the middle, which was excavated by Mr. Ouyang Xiu in the Song Dynasty. More than ten steps up Ziwei Spring is Fengle Pavilion, and hundreds of steps east of Fengle Pavilion is Qingxin Pavilion. Turn west from Xingxinge, and you can enter Tianning Temple. Now it's all deserted, only desolate smoke and weeds. I was disappointed for a long time after listening to his words.

About three miles to the west, a spring water flows out from between the two mountains and is divided into several waterways, named Rangquan. The running water is so clear that it can shine on people's hair. There is a pavilion on the shore called "Getting Better", which has been abandoned, leaving only four big characters engraved on the cliff stone carving. Follow the stream through Xuelao Bridge, and you will arrive at Zuiweng Pavilion. Zuiwengting has long been abandoned, and there are many stone carvings of celebrities, but it was burnt to mud after the war and almost disappeared. The four holy halls behind the drunken pavilion are also deserted. There is a glass spring next to Zuiweng Pavilion, also called Liu Yiquan. There is a stone railing on it and a big stone under it. There is a small hole in the middle of the big stone for the spring to pass through, with a diameter of about five or six inches. It is warm to drink with water in your hand.

When it was cloudy and the snow was falling, Jing Bo said to us eagerly, "It's snowing. What are you going to do if you don't go back? " I was so interested in enjoying the trip that I turned around and left without giving a damn. After walking for about a mile on the stone road, we arrived at Huimaling. At this time, Bo You caught up with him, and Bo Qing followed him. Boyou said, "Those two men are too weak to keep up!" Those two men are Bo Xian and Bo Gong.

We wound our way through the yellow thatched piles and white reeds, not knowing where to go. Fortunately, the remains of the stupa built during the Xining period in the Song Dynasty have appeared from time to time. Let's go along the road without any doubt. Once, the road seemed to come to an end, and once again, it opened and turned around. After many times, there was no way to go before reaching Hua Kai Zen Temple. The temple is in the deepest part of Langya Mountain, but unfortunately the mountain is bare and there is no "beautiful" place.

Shao Ning, a monk from Kaihua Temple, prepared a meal for us. After dinner, he took us to visit the illegitimate child spring. Private springs flowed out of the cracks in the mountains, which were dug by Li Youqing in the Tang Dynasty and inscribed by Li. The seal script inscribed by Li disappeared, and the three-character tablet written by Zhang Yi was also broken, lying under the spring. There are many titles of Confucian scholars on the cliff, and there have been various titles since Huang You and Xichun. Some fonts are seal script, some are official script, some are regular script, some are recognizable, and some are unrecognizable. Mountains on the east and west are everywhere, not just this spring here. Since Li Youqing extensively searched for beautiful scenery, chiseled stones to draw springs into streams, and built meditation rooms and piano platforms, later generations have inherited this trend well, with about 20 pavilions in the mountains. Now my eyes are full of wild hazel trees, and there is no place to see the remains. Alas!

It is a normal law of development to build and abandon a museum. Where is it worth feeling? What is worth feeling is: how can there be a limit to the strange mountains and strange waters like Langya Mountain in the world? Just because there is no celebrity like Li Youqing to repair remote and humble counties, his reputation is very hidden and no one knows. In addition, Li Youqing can certainly make Langya Mountain famous. Without Ouyang Xiu's articles, where can Langya Mountain be famous all over the world? Some people say that the rhetoric of the article has nothing to do with the world. Is it really a conclusion? Thinking of the war at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, I fled and hid in the deserted land every day. Now I can take refuge in the imperial court and patrol with the prince, so as to get a chance to thoroughly visit the scenic spots in Langya. Isn't it achieved by the mercy of the Lord and the clarity of the world? This should be spread through songs and articles to publicize the sacred virtues that the emperor has given us to travel and enjoy the beautiful scenery!
