Wei Zi New World Xi 'an

As the most important birthplace of Buddhist culture in China, there are many Xi 'an temples, but among many temples, three Ni temples are very low-key, namely Wangji Temple, Yunju Temple and Liang Qing Temple, and Wangji Temple is the only royal temple among the three Ni temples.

Wangji Temple is located in Paofang Street, Dongguan, Xi, which used to be a residential area. From the Ming Dynasty to the founding of New China, it was a famous gathering place and sales street for fireworks and firecrackers. In addition to local craftsmen, a large number of people from other places, such as Henan people, have been living here since the1940s. Due to the pressure of life, they also learned to make paper cannons or open a shop with local people. By the end of11950 s and the beginning of11960 s, most workshops were moved to Yuhuazhai area for safety reasons. Since then, there have been no guns in Gun House Street, and today it has changed beyond recognition. Only Wangji Temple has still become a place of worship for good men and women nearby.

The reason why Wangji Temple is the Ni Temple in the royal temple is related to two women, Wu Zetian and Princess Taiping. Wu Zetian was born in Chang 'an (now Xi City), and was the only empress in China history. 14 years old, Wu Zetian entered the harem and became a talent of Emperor Taizong, and was named "Wu Mei". Emperor Gaozong was originally called Zhao Yi, and later was the empress (655-683), who was honored as the queen of heaven. Wu Zetian is a woman with strong desire for power. After taking charge of state affairs in December of the first year of Hongdao (683), Wu Zetian cultivated her cronies and gradually seized Li Tang. In September of the second year of Hongdao (684), Wu Zetian abolished Zhongzong as the king of Luling, and made Li Dan, the younger brother of Zhongzong, the king of Yu, the emperor. According to history, Luoyang, the eastern capital, was changed to the capital of gods, and Ziwei City was the Taiji Palace restructured by the Empress Dowager. On September 9th, the first year of the reign of Emperor Zai (AD 690), the Tang Dynasty changed to Zhou Dynasty, and Luoyang was its capital, honoring the holy emperor. Although Wu Zetian promoted social and economic development during her reign, she was a puppet regime, not an orthodox dynasty. In the first year of Shenlong (705), Wu Zetian abdicated. June 65438+February 65438+June, 82-year-old Wu Zetian died in Shangyang Palace and Sui Tang recovered. The short-lived dynasty, which only existed for 25 years in history, came to an end.

Princess Taiping, the youngest daughter of Wu Zetian and Tang Gaozong Li Zhi, was loved by her mother since she was a child. After Wu Zetian's death, she built a temple for her mother in the most conspicuous position in Chang 'an, named Ji Wang Temple. It is said that the word "Wang Ji" is taken from the Book of Songs:

My parents gave birth to me, raised me and took good care of me. I want to repay you well, but my parents are so kind. How can I repay you? At that time, Princess Taiping was in prison because her mother was also in prison. "No return" didn't make any sense, which just showed Princess Taiping's mentality at that time. Because Wangji Temple was built by her daughter for her mother, she has an indissoluble bond with women.

After the death of Princess Taiping, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty established a temple in the Kaiyuan period, offering a portrait of her true face for people to worship.

In the eighth year of Tang Kaiyuan (720), Xuanzong ordered the demolition of Xingqing Palace and Daming Palace and the expansion of Wangji Temple. In the 20th year of Kaiyuan (732), Wangji Temple was changed to Xingtang Temple.

After the torrent of years, there are not many relics preserved in Wangji Temple. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the temple was repaired many times. 1900, Cixi took refuge in xi 'an and wrote the word "tiger" in her own handwriting. 1935, the national government officially changed it into a ten-square Nepalese jungle and set up an inscription.

There are still too many differences between Wangji Temple in history and Wangji Temple we see today. From the scale, it is not obvious that it is the original royal temple. Although there are many tall buildings around, the temple is still quiet and deep.
