Second, the styles should be matched. The style of the basin should match the content of the scene in style. The posture of the tree is winding, and the outline of the basin should be mainly curved strips, such as circles and ellipses; The posture of the trees is vigorous and straight, so the lines of the basin should be straight, such as diamonds and squares. Trees with straight shapes should use low pads, and trees with oblique and elegant shapes should use high pads. Fourth, the depth should be appropriate. The bottom basin of landscape bonsai should be very shallow to show the height of mountain peaks, the twists and turns at the foot of mountain streams, boats and bridges in the water and other scenery. Too deep a basin will obscure the scenery.

Fifth, the texture should be appropriate. Pine and cypress bonsai should use purple clay pots; Glazed pottery pots are generally used for miscellaneous wood.
