Where do bananas come from?

Bananas are native to China, and the main producing areas in China are Fujian, Hainan, Guangxi and Guangdong. Banana leaves are rectangular, the flesh is soft, yellow and white, and the aroma is rich. The more common varieties are Williams banana, CMB banana and Guangdong banana 1.

2. Variety introduction

Common banana varieties are Qiwei banana, Williams banana, Guangdong banana 1, Tianbao banana, Guangxi dwarf banana, Hekou Gaoba banana and so on. Among them, Qiwei banana is mainly distributed in Guangdong Province, China, and its fruit has poor wind resistance, while Williams banana is a medium variety with high yield.

3. Breeding method

When planting bananas, methods such as bud-sucking propagation, tuber propagation, ramet propagation and tissue culture can be used, among which tuber propagation method is the simplest, with high survival rate and neat results. When tuber propagates banana, it is necessary to scrape off the rotten skin outside its underground stem, and then soak it in hot water for 20 minutes for disinfection.

4. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

Bananas are prone to scab, black spot, leaf spot and other pests and diseases, among which scab will make the leaves of plants yellow and dry, leading to banana death. When cultivating bananas, spray fungicides before and after bolting to cut off withered leaves of bananas to prevent diseases and insect pests.
