History of Zizhulin

According to the records of mountain chronicles of past dynasties, in the second year of Zhen Ming of Hou Liang (AD 9 16), Hua Hui, a Japanese monk, returned from Wutai Mountain to offer a statue of Guanyin, and his boat was blocked by Putuoyang. Thinking that the Bodhisattva didn't want to travel eastward, he landed and left a statue of Buddha, which was offered by a resident surnamed Zhang in the name of "refusing to go to Kannonji", which was the beginning of offering Buddha to Putuo Mountain.

According to legend, there is a snake king on Mount Putuo, leading his descendants. There is a tendency of' I opened this mountain and planted this tree' on this mountain, and no one dares to invade its territory. Once Guanyin Bodhisattva became an old monk and came to the Snake King to borrow the mountain to open the Dojo, in order to broaden the mysteries of the world. The snake king insisted on refusing to defend his rights and interests. It says:' This is the base of my descendants' imperial career. How can a monk lend you a Dojo to educate all beings? Seeing that the snake king was unreasonable, the Bodhisattva said rudely,' What can you do to boldly refuse me to borrow it? The snake king saw the bodhisattva and asked him what he could do to occupy it. He said,' I can show my true colors and go around this mountain three times. The Bodhisattva smiled unbelievably and said,' If you can really turn around three times in your original shape, I won't borrow your mountain; If you have no skills, you can't go around the mountain three times. Then what can you say? "Snake Wang Dafang said,' This is what I used to bypass. What is the reason why I can't? I can't leave, so I'll lend you the mountain to open the Dojo!' The Bodhisattva said,' It's a deal, don't break your word. The snake king stood tall and said,' A man's word is a promise, but it's hard to take it back. As he spoke, he suddenly turned himself into a thousand-year-old strange python, thick and long, and slowly began to circle the mountain. At this time, the Bodhisattva slowly enlarged the mountain with her magical powers. The snake king surrounded the place and the bodhisattva's mountain was released. As a result, the snakehead and the snakehead have not been connected yet. Seeing that the snake king could do nothing, the Bodhisattva smiled and said to him,' Now you can't even turn three times, what can you say? It's time for Dashan to lend me a Dojo! The snake king said helplessly,' I don't know how lucky I am today. I can make three turns at a time. Why can't I walk around today? I can lend it to you, but you can also show me some magical power and make me willingly give up! "The Bodhisattva said,' That's easy! I can show Zizhu on a stone in this land with my fingers at once! "With a finger, countless zizhu suddenly appeared on the white stone, which is said to be zizhu stone. Later, many men and women went to the mountains to make pilgrimages, carrying small purple bamboo stones and taking them back as souvenirs. This is the origin and publication of Zizhu Bamboo Forest in Putuo Mountain.
