The only place in Hong Kong that will pass the ancient pagoda is Pingshan Heritage Trail.

Ping Shan Heritage Trail was opened by Governor Patten on19931February 12. Pingshan Heritage Trail is the first heritage trail in Hong Kong. On the recommendation of the Antiquities Advisory Board, the Antiquities and Monuments Office and the Antiquities Section of the Architectural Services Department have been preparing for several years, and the museum is now open to the public.

Brief introduction of Pingshan heritage trail

Pingshan Heritage Trail is located in Pingshan Township, Yuen Long District, New Territories. The only trail in Hong Kong that passes through ancient pagodas, many ancient villages and ancestral halls is about 1.6 km long. You can learn about the life of early Hong Kong villages from precious historical sites.

The first stop of Cuixing Building:

The only existing tower in Hong Kong, the Guta Cuixing Tower, originally had seven floors. After hundreds of years of wind and rain erosion, only three floors remain. The top floor of the ancient pagoda is dedicated to Kuixing, who is said to be in charge of the imperial examination, and each floor has a festive and auspicious inscription worth reading.

The second stop is Shetan:

Before entering Shangzhangwei, you will pass an altar, which is simple in design, only made of blue bricks, and the gods are replaced by stones. It is said that it can protect the safety of villagers.

Zhang Shang is the best jade. Shangzhangwei has a history of more than 200 years, and it is the only walled village on Gupingshan Cultural Relics Road. Although some blue brick walls have been demolished, the gatehouse, ancestral hall and ancient buildings in the village remain the same, showing the layout and style of the traditional walled village.

The third stop is Shangzhangwei:

Pingyang Yanghou Ancient Temple, located in Kengtou Village, is one of the six big thick temples in Yuen Long. There are many theories about the origin of Hou Wang. The villagers thought it was Yang, a loyal minister in the late Song Dynasty. He sacrificed his life to protect the emperor of the Song Dynasty and was worshipped by later generations.

The fourth stop is Pingshan Yanghou Ancient Temple:

Deng's ancestral temple is surrounded by six villages in Pingshan. Its architecture adopts the style of three entrances and two exits, which is magnificent and is a model of similar ancient buildings in Hong Kong. There is no threshold at the main entrance of the ancestral hall, but there is a sandstone tunnel in the front yard, which shows that some people in the clan hold important positions in the court. Until now, ancestral temples are still used for ancestor worship, celebrations and gatherings.

The fifth stop is Deng's ancestral temple:

The second ancestral temple of Yuqiao was jointly built by Deng Shixian and Zhao Shi, the ancestor of the Deng family. In addition to being a clan ancestral hall, it is also a Dade School. From 193 1 to 196 1, children in Pingshan village study here. Now, you can still see the couplet on the door when the school was founded: "Do your time, Xiu De is on you".

The sixth stop is Qiao Yue Er Gong Temple:

The Royal Library used to be a place for children in neighboring villages to study and worship their ancestors. The whole building is supported by granite columns, and the door frame of the main entrance is also granite. Exquisite interior decoration, such as the wall decoration with auspicious patterns such as lotus and peach, and the golden sculpture of "Ganluo White Elephant", were all exquisite works at that time.

Seventh stop Jinting Library:

Qingshuxuan is the residence of visiting guests and scholars. The wing ornaments are exquisite and gorgeous. From the woodcuts, murals, gray carvings, leaky windows and bucket arches here, we can see the style of the traditional China rich mansion.

The eighth stop is Qingshuxuan:

Rural residents in the New Territories worship the voice of Wang Hong, who is in charge of the ocean. In order to go to sea smoothly, the Deng people built sacrifices. The patio here has good lighting and feels spacious and comfortable; At the same time, the banyan trees around the building can be seen through the patio.

Ninth stop, Hongsheng Palace:

Formerly known as Laopingshan Police Station, it later became the headquarters and training center of the police dog team. It is one of the few pre-war police stations in the New Territories. In 2002, it was transformed into Pingshan Deng Heritage Museum and Heritage Trail Visitor Center to introduce the history of Pingshan Deng and the historical sites along the Heritage Trail.
