Do you know the method of flower seed storage?

In the process of flower planting, seed storage is an important link that cannot be ignored. Under normal circumstances, newly harvested and properly stored seeds have a high germination rate. With the increase of storage life, the germination rate of seeds will gradually decrease until they lose their vitality. It is necessary to store seeds scientifically and reasonably, reduce seed deterioration, reduce costs and improve income.

The life span of different kinds of flowers varies greatly. Some seeds have a life span of only about 1 year, while others have a life span of 4-5 years or even longer. Generally, seeds with hard seed coat and poor air permeability and water permeability have a relatively long life. In addition, the storage method also has a great influence on the life of seeds.

The seed storage methods of common flowers are as follows.

① Dry storage method. Dry storage method is suitable for the storage of biennial flower seeds. Put the seeds into containers such as cloth bags or cartons, place them in a cool, ventilated and dry environment in layers, and check them regularly.

② Sealed storage method. Sealed storage method is to put fully dried seeds into glass bottles and store them at low temperature after sealing. Sealed storage can reduce the respiration of seeds and prolong their life.

③ Wet storage method. Wet storage method is suitable for seeds with high water content, long dormancy period and need to accelerate germination. Mix the seeds and wet sand evenly according to the ratio of 1: 3. When there are many seeds, they can be stored in a sand-mixing ditch. Dig a ditch l meters deep and 1 meter wide, the length depends on the number of seeds. Pave 10 cm thick wet sand at the bottom of the ditch, pile 40 ~ 50 cm thick seeds on it, cover with 20 cm thick wet sand, and finally cover with 10 cm thick soil. Set a vent every 1 m to prevent seeds from rotting. When the amount of seeds is small, they can be packed in wooden cases and kept indoors. The thickness of mixed sand seeds should not exceed 50 cm, and interest should be injected to keep the soil moist. To prevent internal heating, please turn it frequently.

The above are the introduction of three common seed storage methods for everyone to understand and learn, hoping to help everyone.
