Ziweigong Taiji Palace

By chance, I saw the documentary "Daming Palace" on the recommendation of Weibo.

For a long time, when it comes to palaces, all that comes to mind are magnificent palaces and long steps, especially the Forbidden City.

But I can't help wondering:

When it comes to the history of China, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tang Dynasty. The prosperous Tang Dynasty is still vivid in our mind, but the prosperous Tang Dynasty we are familiar with has the only Empress Wu Zetian in history, which experienced the prosperity of Kaiyuan and the rebellion of Anshi. Where is her Miyagi? What's your name?

Until I saw Daming Palace-

If the sun rises, it is called Daming.

Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The Sui Dynasty built Chang 'an City under the guidance of the divination theory in Zhouyi.

As the saying goes:

The ancients believed that the purple star, the North Star, was located in the center of the northern sky, surrounded by many stars, and the noble Emperor of Heaven lived there.

The emperor is the son of heaven, and the monarch on the ground corresponds to the stars in the sky, so the Taiji Palace where the emperor lives is arranged in the north central part of Chang 'an.

In the Tang Dynasty, the Taiji Palace established by the Sui Dynasty was still used as a palace to stabilize people's hearts.

Taiji Palace is located in the lowest depression in Chang 'an. The temperature in Chang 'an is high in summer and it often rains, so Taiji Palace is humid and sultry.

In 630 AD, all the nomadic people in the north submitted to it, respecting Emperor Taizong as Tiankhan. In the history of China, it is rare for an emperor to be so respected by nomadic people around him.

Years of exercise made Li Shimin hurt all over. Whenever summer comes, he will go out to Chang 'an for the summer.

It's Jiucheng Palace, a hundred miles from Chang 'an.

However, it is said that Jiucheng Palace was the place where the tyrannical Yang Guang killed Emperor Wen of Sui Dynasty.

In the face of Li Shimin's invitation, Tang Gaozu, who experienced the Xuanwu Gate incident, refused to face the land where his father and son turned against each other, and refused to go to Jiucheng Palace for the summer.

At this time, an official named Ma Zhou suggested: Why not build a Summer Palace for the emperor's father in Chang 'an?

Emperor Taizong readily agreed.

Li Shimin hoped that this project would show his filial piety, but Ethan died shortly after the project started.

The construction of Daming Palace came to an abrupt end.

By the time of Emperor Gaozong, the Tang Dynasty had been established for nearly half a century, and this increasingly prestigious empire urgently needed a palace to match it.

Taiji Palace is not only damp, but also too simple. In his later years, Tang Gaozong was tortured by illness and didn't want to live in the damp Taiji Palace. After years of work stoppage, Daming Palace began to be rebuilt, but the scale was not comparable to that of the past.

This is no longer a farewell garden for summer vacation, but a new palace, which is also the most distinguished building in the Tang Dynasty.

The project with Liang Shaoren, the commander-in-chief of Si Nong Shao Qing, is about to be launched vigorously.

The columns used in the building come from the far south. After half a year's transportation, the giant wood can reach the construction workshop.

The designer of Daming Palace is not recorded in the history books, but scholars speculate that Yan, a great painter and author of "Travel Map", is the best person to shoulder this important task.

When it comes to the Tang Dynasty, we have to talk about the only female emperor in history:

The main entrance of Daming Palace is called Danfengmen, and Feng Dan is called Suzaku, which means red phoenix.

On June 5, 663, before the Daming Palace was completely completed, a large-scale relocation of the royal family began.

Before Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty, eunuchs were in a low position. After Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, eunuchs began to overstep their authority and their rights gradually increased.

After the Anshi Rebellion, the accumulated ills of the Tang Empire were gradually exposed.

Dramatically, this former scholar went to Chang 'an many years ago because of the imperial examination, and the prosperity of Chang 'an left a very deep impression on him:

But he couldn't stop the looting of the peasant army.

The once unattainable capital is now under their control, and in just a few days they looted the once most prosperous city.

The poet Wei Zhuang wrote:

This is the most vivid portrayal at that time.

In 883, Huang Chao withdrew from Chang 'an, and loyalists poured in again, looting goods and setting fires. In the palace, 10 burns 67.

Daming Palace has experienced the most serious damage in history.

It was destroyed.

Since its completion, Daming Palace has survived for 222 years, witnessing the unprecedented glory and irreversible decline of the Tang Dynasty.

In A.D. 1957, the site of Daming Palace was discovered after it was destroyed 1050.
