Production steps:

For the circle friends who often play wooden spin, the production of incense burner is not complicated. Today, what I shared in the carpenter's circle is the making process of the incense burner with two ears and three breasts. I first drew a sketch of an incense burner with two ears and three feet by hand, or printed a picture with a computer, and then cut out a modeling paper card according to the sample. Then determine the size according to your own needs and the details that need to be adjusted. Then the mahogany block is fixed on the lathe to obtain the blank of the incense burner, and the shape of the ears and feet is made by a hand-held cutting machine. Then use a woodworking file and sandpaper to polish, and then apply beeswax after polishing. The following is the production process, to share with the wooden friends.

Step 1: Transfer-out modeling.

According to the design sketch, a mahogany block for the incense burner is sawed with a hand saw, and then the wood block is fixed with the top holes at both ends of the lathe. The rotating speed is generally controlled at around 300~500. When the speed is normal, start to use the knife slowly and eat carefully. Don't wear gloves when driving, wear goggles, measure the diameter with calipers after rough turning, and don't drive too small. After the rough embryo is completed, start the modeling of the incense burner according to the design sketch, and pay attention to the angle of the feet and ears of the incense burner when turning. After turning, take out the blank, fix one end of the blank on the lathe (as shown in the figure), and then hollow it out with a lathe tool. And turn out the hole in the incense burner and finally polish it with sandpaper on the lathe. Step 2: Do a good job.

There are many ways to model feet and ears, depending on what woodworking tools you have. Firstly, draw the design positions of the two ears of the incense burner on the rough embryo with a pencil, and determine the positions of the three feet with a protractor. Then use a hand-held cutting machine (or hand saw) to cut out the foot and ears of the incense burner according to the designed position, and drill out the small holes of the two ears with a hand drill. Then use woodworkers to file off the excess parts, make the shapes of feet and ears, and finally polish them with coarse sand.

Step 3: Polishing and waxing

Rough grinding with a file first, then coarse sandpaper with 120, and then fine grinding gradually. Sandpaper should be polished from coarse to fine. Don't skip using sandpaper. Generally, 2000 mesh is enough. When polishing, it is best to put a cushion on the sandpaper and polish it along the direction of wood grain. The polishing strength will be relatively stable and even until the desired effect is achieved. After a long period of polishing, the remaining step is to apply beeswax to the wooden incense burner. It is suggested to wax for three times, and wipe the incense burner with fluffy cloth each time to let beeswax penetrate into the wood. After waxing, the surface is dried and polished with very fine sandpaper, and then polished for the second time. After waxing, gently wipe and polish with a soft cloth.
