Overview of Tianzun Pavilion

Tianzunge is located in Fengtai Town, Ninghe District. It was built in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the eighth year of Xianfeng (1858). It is a Taoist temple dedicated to the Buddha of the Yuan Dynasty.

It was originally composed of a mountain gate, an annex hall and a pavilion, but most of the later buildings were destroyed in the earthquake, leaving only the pavilion. Built on a platform with a height of17.4m, Dage is a three-story wooden building, with the lowest floor being Tianzun Pavilion, the middle floor being Empress Dowager Hall and the upper floor being Weizi Hall. The pavilion, with rigorous and reasonable structure and elegant decoration, was actually safe and sound in the Tangshan earthquake, which provided physical data for studying the earthquake resistance of houses in Beijing, Tianjin and Tangshan area.

It was learned from the Ninghe District Government of Tianjin that after more than two months of intensive cultivation in 2007, Tianzun Pavilion in Ninghe, a famous high-rise wooden structure in Tianjin, was repaired and officially accepted by the municipal expert group, which made this ancient temple with a history of hundreds of years reappear in a new atmosphere.

As one of the three Taoist temples in Tianjin history, Tianzun Pavilion covers an area of 6,000 square meters with a building area of 240 square meters. It is a three-story pavilion with a height of17.4m.. The date of its creation can no longer be verified. It was rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty and Kangxi period. It is a key cultural relics protection unit in Tianjin and the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units. According to experts, the architectural structure of Tianzunge is unique. There are eight towering columns from the flat top to the top of the pavilion, which enhances the firmness and stability of the building. Although it survived the Tangshan earthquake, its recovery can provide scientific basis for studying the earthquakes in Jintang area and the earthquake resistance and earthquake prevention of houses in the past 300 years.
