How to shape the stump bonsai?

Bonsai is called "three-dimensional painting, silent poem" and has a long history in China. Many young friends like bonsai art and want to make bonsai by themselves. Let's talk about the shape of the stump bonsai.

1. Stump bonsai modeling should have an overall conceptual design. Poetry writing requires "writing first with intention", which also applies to the creation of bonsai. Due to the different materials, types, characteristics and images of the pile head, the producer should make a general idea, draw a blueprint in his mind, or draw a design composition on paper. The overall design should pay attention to the following four aspects:

The pile head of bonsai has the characteristics of continuous growth, so the producer should know fairly well and decide the height, front and back, left and right of roots, branches, stems and leaves according to its overall situation, so as to make it conform to the modeling law of "shrinking the dragon into one inch" and "seeing the big from the small".

(4) innovative ideas. We should boldly innovate and develop on the basis of the precious heritage of our predecessors and create good works that can reflect the spirit of the times.

2. According to the creative intention, the upright pile head and branches should be bent and twisted into various forms reasonably, so that they can be varied in three-dimensional space. Commonly used bending methods include: palm rope binding method (binding the trunk of pile head with palm ropes with different thicknesses to force it to bend and shape), metal wire binding method (winding the trunk of pile head with copper, aluminum, lead, iron and other silk wires with different thicknesses to force it to bend and shape by using its toughness and plasticity), curved wood bending, through bending, sawtooth bending, cutting and carving.

3. In order to make the shape of the stump bonsai conform to the creative intention, the selected pile head should be properly cut and carved. Cutting is to control its growth rate, promote its multi-branching, and make the pile head grow normally and flourish in a basin with limited nutrients. The cutting sequence is from trunk to branches and leaves, from big to small, from inside to outside. The sculpture of the stump bonsai is to show its old and sick image, so as to show its "elegant demeanor of the old man" which has gone through many vicissitudes for a long time. The modeling of stump bonsai should also consider its exposure, grafting, leaf bud pruning and so on.
