How to make handmade gourd

Gourd has a long planting history in China, and its sound is close to "Fulu", which means that many generations will be blessed, so people usually regard it as a mascot and call it "auspicious gourd". Gourd carving is an ancient manual art mainly based on gourd carving, which is loved by many manual carving enthusiasts. On June 7th, 2008, gourd carving was approved by the State Council to be included in the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.

Materials and tools: drying gourd, artificial flowers, carbon paper, adhesive tape, signature pen, sewing needle, wax-sealed hemp thread, leather dye (oil painting stick), iron brush, serrated knife, gourd scraper, pencil sharpener, awl and fixative.

1. First take out the prepared gourd, clean it and dry it, then polish the surface with an iron brush to remove ugly mildew spots.

2. Take out the serrated knife and cut off the upper part of the gourd.

3. Pick up the gourd scraper, scrape off the skin inside the gourd, rinse the inside and dry it.

4. Prepare your favorite pattern and draw it with carbon paper.

Pick up the pen and sketch the pattern again.

6. Then pick up the carving knife for simple carving to make the pattern more three-dimensional.

7. Poke along the edge of the gourd mouth with an awl.

8. Thread the wax-sealed twine through the small hole with a sewing needle, and then fix the artificial flowers, and a beautiful hand-carved gourd ornament will be ready ~
