The history of Yunnan black drugs

Yunnan black drug was produced in Tongzhi of Qing Dynasty for three years (1864). It used to be as famous as Baiyao in the Republic of China. It can effectively treat stroke hemiplegia caused by knife, gun and stick injuries. It is convenient for oral administration and external use, with little dosage and remarkable curative effect.

In the article "The Origin of Black Medicine" written by Mr. Zheng in Jiangchuan Literature and History Materials (the second series), the birth process of "Black Medicine" is described.

Hou Wanchun, the founder of "Black Medicine", was born in the 20th year of Qing Daoguang (184 1), a native of Xiaoying Village, Qianwei Town, Jiangchuan County. According to "Jiangchuan Historical Records", Hou Wanchun, after painstaking research, learned from others' strengths, and used drunken grass as the main medicine, which has the functions of anesthesia, analgesia, detoxification, relaxing tendons and activating collaterals, stopping bleeding and reducing swelling. Together with other drugs for treating traumatic injuries, he developed a medicine that can dredge meridians, and its efficacy spread all over the body. Because the medicine is fried and ground into powder, it is yellow and black, so people call it "black medicine".

According to records, in the autumn of 1935, descendants of Hou Shi came to Kunming and opened "Hou Shi Brothers Pharmacy" at No.32 Runjie, Xiaomenmen, selling "black medicine" and "Wei Zi ointment". The drug was tested by the provincial health laboratory and obtained the patent license of 177 and the business license of the provincial police station of 5 1. From 65438 to 0942, "Black Medicine" was sold in Qujing, Zhanyi, Kaiyuan, Mengzi, Gejiu, Lin 'an, Hua Kai and other places in the province, and in Sichuan and other places outside the province.
