Lagerstroemia indica is a kind of deciduous flower with strong germination, which is very popular because its flowering period lasts for several months. Its shaping and pruning need to master the following three technical links.

Pruning time can be from the first autumn without fallen leaves to the next spring before germination, but it is generally appropriate to finish pruning before the end of winter, because this time is relatively free, and diseases and pests that may occur in some years can be reduced by pruning.

The main method of pruning is strength contraction. According to the flowering habit of Lagerstroemia indica, its inflorescence is concentrated at the top of the budding branch of that year, and it is usually not pregnant on the old branch. Corresponding pruning measures should be taken according to different tree shapes. For big trees with obvious trunk, the sprouting branches on the trunk should be deleted first, so that the trunk can always be straight and smooth, and the bark is bright and lovely. For the big branches located in the middle and upper part of Gao Qian that affect the tree shape, all the branches should be sawed off from the base, so that the remaining big branches will open naturally, and each big branch will occupy about 70% to 100% of the space, forming a more beautiful umbrella rib; All the middle branchlets that sprouted in that year were cut off from the base, so that more thick branches could grow in the next year, and bright and huge inflorescences could cover the periphery of the canopy. For clustered Lagerstroemia indica, except for selecting thick stems to keep the stems, all other sprouting strips are cut off from the base, and it is generally appropriate to keep 3 or 5 odd thick stems; Then, cut off every thick trunk at an appropriate height. The trunk height of large green space should be 2.5 to 3 meters, and the trunk height of general courtyard green space should be 1.5 to 2 meters. Then, choose 3 ~ 5 large lateral branches at the cutting part of each pile stem, and if the conditions are not available in the first year, choose from the thick new branches drawn in the second year; All the middle branchlets sprouted from the cut part of the thick trunk branches were cut off from the base in that year, and more flower branches sprouted from the cut part in the next year, forming a good viewing position.

Pruned branches should be burned centrally. After pruning Lagerstroemia indica, clean the cut branches and leaves scattered on the ground, burn them together, and paint the parts below 1.5 meters white, which can reduce the occurrence of diseases in the coming year.
