Why did Lin Xiangru hold up Cui Da's post?

Lin Xiangru (date of birth and death unknown) was a famous politician and diplomat in the Warring States Period. According to Records of the Historian and Biography of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru, there are three most important events in his life, namely, the complete return to Zhao, Mianchi meeting and apology.

Lin Xiangru used to be an official of Mr. Scheeren. When Zhao Huiwen was king, Qin Zhao wrote to the king of Zhao, willing to exchange fifteen cities for "harmony". Lin Xiangru was ordered to take "money" to the State of Qin. He argued and responded tactfully, and finally returned to Zhao intact. In 279 BC, the king of Qin and the king of Zhao met in Mianchi (now Mianchi West, Henan Province). He accompanied Zhao Haoqi and Cheng Xiao, reprimanded the powerful state of Qin face to face, and did not disgrace the country, so that the prince of Zhao did not disgrace the country. Because of his achievements, he was appointed as an official, ranking above Lian Po. Self-reliant Lian Po refused to accept each other's opinions, felt ashamed and threatened to humiliate each other. Lin Xiangru has always avoided tolerance in order to maintain harmony among the people and prevent foreign enemies from taking advantage of it. Lin Xiangru's spirit of putting national interests first and humility touched Lian Po, so he personally went to Lin Xiangru's house to offer a humble apology, and the two became awkward friends.
