Research on the enfeoffment system in Shang Dynasty: This book clearly puts forward the distinction between Fang State and Feng State in Shang Dynasty for the first time. Those countries that are vassals of the Shang royal family for a short time, but are enemies of the Shang royal family for a long time and have strong independence belong to Fang State, otherwise it is Feng State; On this basis, the author points out that the feudal system did exist in Shang Dynasty. Many vassals in Shang dynasty were enfeoffed by making books, giving books and building cities. At most, there were 285 enfeoffment countries and 85 square countries, totaling as many as 370. A considerable number of them perished and gradually became hunting grounds and military strongholds of Shang kings. This national integration and regional unification laid the foundation for the establishment of a unified multi-ethnic country in the future, and also showed that the vassal States enfeoffed by Shang Dynasty were mainly the result of military conquest. In Shang Dynasty, the feudal state Fang Guo and the Shang royal family maintained the vassal relationship through the system of engagement, oath, supervision and inspection, but wars between the Shang royal family and Fang Guo for cities, land and population continued, which also marked the instability and strong independence of the relationship between Fang Guo and Shang royal family. But generally speaking, the territory of the late Shang Dynasty reached its peak through the enfeoffment system, which greatly consolidated the rule of the Shang Dynasty.
