Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar and Dianchi Haikou

"Pinzi Sanfang, Jinma Biji is loyal to love." This is a popular couplet in Kunming. It is said that a talented woman from a rich family came out to recruit talented people, but no one can take couplets. Golden Horse Square, Biji Square and Zhong 'ai Square, three towering archways, have become landmark buildings and scenic spots in Kunming. From the astronomical point of view, it is very impossible to see the almost miraculous scenery of "resplendent and magnificent"; So, what's the special significance of Zhong 'ai Square?

In fact, the establishment of Zhongaifang is to commemorate those who have made great contributions to the development of Kunming. This is Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar.

Dianchi Lake has a wide water area, which has brought a lot of floods to Kunming. Dongsi Pagoda and Xisi Pagoda are used to town water, and the words "Goluda" are engraved on the top of the tower to deter the Dianchi Lake dragon and calm the flood. Goruda is a legend of Buddhism. Its wings spread 360 Wan Li, and the whole floating dike (the world) can only accommodate the brief introduction of Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar, feeding on dragons.

In the final analysis, this is just a magic weapon of spiritual symbol quoted from religious legends. In the Yuan Dynasty, Kunming was still a small city with four directions. Outside Xiaoximen, the place names Panjiawan and Dianchi Lake are submerged here. It was Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar who solved the flooding in Dianchi Lake, and he achieved the miraculous feat of Goruda: he pacified the flooding in Dianchi Lake and laid the foundation for the development and rise of Kunming city.

In the Yuan Dynasty, Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar moved the administrative center of Yunnan from Dali to Kunming. At the same time, Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar began to control the flood in Kunming. Shan Siding and his subordinate Zhang Lidao conducted a comprehensive water control project after touring the whole Dianchi Lake.

In the northeast of Kunming, dredge the river and introduce "Shaodian 99 Spring" into Panlong River; At the foot of Jinma Mountain in the east, Songhua Dam was built, and later generations praised Songhua Dam as "a bowl of water on the head of the people of Spring City"; Excavate Jinzhi River, build sluices and culverts to release water to irrigate farmland; Six artificial rivers, such as Baoxiang River and Mario River, have been dug in the lower reaches of Dianchi Lake.

Among the water conservancy facilities around Yunnan, it is very important to dig through Dianchi Lake and connect it with the Mantis River in the southwest corner of Dianchi Lake. In this way, Dianchi Lake, an inland lake, has a water outlet. Tanglangchuan River flows into Jinsha River and finally into Yangtze River. This place, hence the name "Haikou".

Therefore, there is a saying that "Yunnan's water conservancy cannot flush the mouth of Dianchi Lake" ([Qing] E Ertai: "Xiujun Haikou Six Rivers Sparse"), and it is also said that Haikou is the key to Yunnan's governance.

Entering Tanglangchuan River along Dianchi Lake, the place name "Haimen" means the gateway to Haikou. Therefore, the village was named Haimen Village. At the entrance of Haimen village, each village has a stone lion, which means shaking water.

After the excavation of Haikou, the water level in Dianchi Lake dropped sharply. From Xiaoximen to Panjiawan, I retreated to the vicinity of Daguanlou. Later, talented scholar Sun Ranweng wrote China's first couplet in Daguanlou. According to the data, the water level in Dianchi Lake has dropped, and it used to be a fertile field of thousands of hectares.

In Yunnan, mountainous flat land is called "bazi", and the width of Dianchi Lake basin limits the development of Kunming city. Second, cities in an agricultural society need several times as much cultivated land as cities to feed. The excavation of Dianchi Lake Haikou has solved these two bottlenecks restricting the development of Kunming city, expanded the area of dams and provided considerable fertile land.

But is it enough to just dig the entrances of Dianchi Lake and Mantis River? That was not the case. Dianchi Lake flood still exists. During the rainy season, the river will flow backward from the Mantis River to Dianchi Lake, causing serious floods.

Under Haimen, an island naturally forms in the middle of the river. The river forks here and gathers again at the end of the island, and the place name is Zhongtan. According to the topographic trend of Zhongtan, Sayyid Shams Din 'Umar organized manpower to build three earth-rock dams here. When there is little rainfall this year, earth-rock dams are used to store Dianchi Lake water. When the rainfall increases sharply, according to the situation, build a dam to prevent water from flowing backwards, or cut a stone dam to release water into the floodplain.

Because these three gates are located in the shape of the Chinese character "Chuan", they are called "Chuanmen". It is also named "Crane Bridge" because it spreads its wings like a crane.

In the Yuan Dynasty, Kyle Polo arrived in Kunming, which was called the Zhongqing House. When he saw businessmen and craftsmen gathered in the city, various religious sects lived together, business flourished, and currency was used, he could not help but exclaim, "This is a magnificent city!" " The management of Dianchi Lake water conservancy has made Kunming city develop rapidly.

In the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang appointed his adopted son Mu Ying to guard Yunnan, and moved hundreds of rich people from Nanjing to Kunming, including Shen Wansan, who was very rich. Nowadays, the "aborigines" in Kunming pay attention to genealogy, and many people always say that their ancestors were from Nanjing. Kunming dialect retains many ancient sounds of Nanjing dialect in Ming Dynasty. In Kunming, the Ming army opened up wasteland, and Zhu Yuanzhang boasted that "raising millions of soldiers is not a grain of rice for the people." This good foundation was laid during the water conservancy management of Shansiding.

Cultural relics are silent, recording the history of human surrender to natural floods. At the same time, it also expresses people's memory of his outstanding talent, doing good things for people's livelihood and being honored by the hero of later generations, Chi Shan Siding.

Songhua dam and Wuliduo in Kunming have the tombstones of Yi Guanzhong and Shan Siding. Wuliduo, the Mongolian homonym of "Wuliduo", means general tent hall, and the title of "Xianyang King" in the competition code is even louder. People will always remember a man's achievements in serving the people, not his past worship of the king.

In the first year of Dade (1279), Saidianchi was posthumously named "the King of the Kingdom and Xianyang".
