According to legend, it originated from the State of Jin in the Spring and Autumn Period, to commemorate the courtiers and mesons of the Duke of Jin. Zhong Er, the son of the State of Jin, went into exile 19 years. He was followed by guards and made great contributions. Zhong Er returned to the throne, that is, Jin Wengong. Jiezitui carried his mother and hid in Mianshan.

Jin Wengong went to look for it, but he couldn't find it. Therefore, he let Yamakaji leave, trying to bridge the gap. I didn't expect meson tui and his mother to hold a big tree, preferring to burn to death rather than go out of the mountain.

Sadly, Jin Wengong ordered Mianshan to be renamed Jieshan (Jieshan, Jiexiu County, Shanxi Province), and ordered that the date when mesons were burned to death was Tomb-Sweeping Day. After that, it is forbidden to make a fire and eat cold meals every year to show gratitude.

As one of the traditional festivals, the most important forms in Tomb-Sweeping Day are ancestor worship and grave sweeping. When I was in Tomb-Sweeping Day, I went to the Chenghuang Temple to burn incense and worship, praying for good weather, safe access and so on.

An outing is stepping on grass, playing in the country and watching the spring scenery. Qingming in April, spring returns to the earth, and nature is full of vitality everywhere, which is a good time to go for an outing; Tomb-Sweeping Day is the time when willows sprout and smoke is green. There are folk customs of folding willow, piercing willow and inserting willow.
