What does fake beeswax look like?

Beeswax is a precious gem, which belongs to amber and is generally opaque or translucent. It's a fossil formed by resin a long time ago. The use of beeswax has a long history, such as Zhu Chao in Qing Dynasty. Beeswax is also very valuable now, and it is inevitable that there will be some fakes, such as imitation with plastic or glass. So what is fake beeswax like?

What does fake beeswax look like?

1. Touch recognition. Beeswax is an organic gem, which has a strong sipping feeling on the surface, giving people a soft and sticky feeling. If the imitation made of glass is too smooth, it will be completely different.

2. Friction identification. The surface friction coefficient of beeswax is large, which is easy to generate static electricity. After wiping beeswax with both hands, beeswax can absorb small pieces of paper, but imitations such as plastic and glass can't.

3. Bubble identification. In the process of beeswax formation, round bubbles will be formed, while fake beeswax usually has no bubbles or bubbles are long and flat. The naked eye can't see all the bubbles, and some need a magnifying glass.

4. Fluorescence reaction. Natural beeswax will produce fluorescence reaction when irradiated by ultraviolet rays, but the fluorescence of natural beeswax is different from that of the second generation and blisters.

What color is the purple light emitted by fake beeswax? If amber and beeswax don't fluoresce, they are fake, because they are not organic at all.

It is suggested to use a professional 365nm purple flashlight and 50 times microscope to identify beeswax. Don't be greedy and cheap, which will affect the identification of beeswax. Because the color temperature is different, the recognition judgment is also different.

Beeswax and amber are the same substance, both organic substances, belonging to the organic gemstone series. Organic matter will fluoresce under 365 nm violet light. Such as beeswax, red sandalwood and pear gum, ivory and so on. Under the professional purple light of 365nm, Burmese amber emits dark blue fluorescence, Baltic beeswax emits light blue fluorescence, and Polish amber emits fluorescence between two colors.

What material is beeswax made of? Beeswax is one of the most wonderful gems in nature. It is an organic gem which is transformed from the resin of pine trees, maple trees and other trees in Eocene and Cretaceous thousands of years or even 100 million years ago, buried underground and mixed with air, water, soil and other minerals. After vicissitudes of life, it has added countless magnificent and mysterious colors, which is actually the essence of the spirit of heaven and earth.

The so-called "Millennium amber, 10,000 years of beeswax" shows that its formation age is longer than amber. Beeswax is very popular because of its soft texture and warm color. In Europe, it is collectively called amber.
