Why should the silver inlay be burned?

The silver wire inlay should be fired or annealed. Burning silver wire before inlaying will make it soft and easier to bend into various shapes. Silver wire inlay, also called silk inlay, was originally a mistake of gold and silver in bronze ware making technology. Craftsmen in Qing Dynasty improved this technology and applied it to mahogany furniture decoration.
