Why is the Forbidden City also called the Forbidden City? How many emperors were there in the Forbidden City?
The name "Forbidden City" is related to China's ancient philosophy and astronomy. People in China believe in "the connection between heaven and man" and "the unity of heaven and man", so the structure of the Forbidden City is modeled after the legendary "Heavenly Palace". In ancient astronomy, the stars were divided into three walls, surrounded by 28 nights, of which Ziwei Garden (Polaris) was located in the center of the sky, which was the center of all the stars. The purple of the Forbidden City is "purple among purple", which means that the palace is also the "middle" of the world; "Forbidden" refers to the residence of the royal family, which has incomparable dignity and is strictly forbidden to intrude.
Twenty-four emperors lived in the Forbidden City. The first one was the Yongle Emperor Judy of the Ming Dynasty, and the last one was the Xuan Tong Emperor Puyi of the Qing Dynasty.
The name of the Forbidden City is actually related to the 28 stars in the sky. In ancient China, the stars worshipped by folk beliefs and Taoism were stars. The stars in the sky were divided into twenty-eight stars and three walls, including Wei Zi wall, Shi Tian wall and Taiwei wall. Among them, Wei Zi wall was in the middle of the three walls and looked brighter than the other two. So there was this kind of "purple in the middle" in ancient times.
There is also a saying that in ancient myths and legends, the Jade Emperor, the supreme ruler who rode for nine days, lived in the Purple Palace. In the eyes of rulers of past dynasties, they all regarded themselves as emperors and ruled the world according to the fate of the Jade Emperor. Therefore, the residence of the Jade Emperor is the Purple Palace, and the emperor on the ground should also live in the Purple Palace.
Then there is the place around the imperial city, which is heavily guarded and the palace is very strict, so ordinary people can't get in. Therefore, the Purple Palace is the Forbidden City for ordinary people, and together it is called the Forbidden City.
After the third emperor of the Ming Dynasty seized the throne, Judy decided to move the capital to Beijing and began to build the palace, which was completed in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420). 19 1 1 year, the Revolution of 1911 overthrew the last feudal monarchy in China-the Qing Dynasty. 1924, the emperor Puyi was expelled from the palace. For more than 500 years, 24 emperors lived here and ruled the whole country.
