Wei Zi and Garfield

Around 1960, American breeding experts bred American short-haired cats and Persian cats, hoping to improve the coat color of American cats and gain weight, thus giving birth to exotic short-haired cats. It was recognized as a new variety by CFA in 1966.

During the breeding period, it also crosses with Russian blue cats and Burmese cats. Since 1987, the allowed hybrid varieties of this breed are limited to Persian cats. Fife recognized the exotic short-haired cat at 1986. This variety is very common in America, and it is becoming popular in Europe.
